At the Business Forum in Cape Town, SACE, SIMEST, and the Italian-South African Chamber of Trade and Industries (ItalCham SA) signed a strategic collaboration agreement to strengthen the internationalisation of Italian enterprises in South Africa.

The initiative aims to unlock new trade and investment opportunities, supporting Italian companies with integrated financial and export tools to enhance competitiveness in one of Africa’s most dynamic markets.

Through strengthened cooperation and business matching initiatives, the partnership will further reinforce the presence of Made in Italy in South Africa and deepen economic ties between the two countries.

At the ItalCham Business Excellence Awards 2026, Dr Giovanni Coci was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award 🇮🇹

Recognised for a distinguished career in medicine spanning South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Eswatini, Dr Coci’s journey reflects exceptional dedication, leadership, and service. A specialist in Internal Medicine and member of the Royal College of Physicians, he has held senior roles including Head of Medicine in the ICU at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

His unwavering commitment was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he remained on the frontlines, continuing to serve patients in critical times. In 2022, his contributions were further honoured with the prestigious Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy.

A legacy defined not only by professional excellence, but by the countless lives impacted through care, mentorship, and compassion. Complimenti! 👏
