The Shuffling Walking Team The Shuffling Walking Team began as a group of friends united to make a difference in the fight against cancer. CONQUERING CANCER ONE STEP AT A TIME!

Through our annual Family Fun Walk, we work to provide hope, create awareness and raise funds while conquering cancer one step at a time! The Shuffling Walking Team was founded in 2012 by a group of friends who are passionate about Cancer Awareness by bringing the community together and raising funds to fight this dreadful disease. The first high-heeled walk in aid of cancer was held in 2012 and was attended by around 100 walkers that managed to raid R28 000. The following year, longer routes were introduced and attendance grew from: 100 walkers in 2012 to 1200 walkers in 2016. Over the 5 years that the walk has been held, the beneficiaries have been; The CANSA Association, The Breast Health Foundation (Helen Jospeh Hosital), Hospice Benoni, Hospice Alberton, The Sunflower Fund, The Tiana Van Baalen Cancer Fund, The Teresa Celastino Cancer Fund and The Felicity Coetzer Guardian Angel Fund. In 2016 a total of R183 000 was raised and the beneficiaries were; The Breast Health Foundation Helen Joseph Hospital), Hospice Benoni, Hospice Alberton and The Sunflower Fund. Due to how much the walk has grown, this year an organising committee has been formed to make the walk even bigger and better. We believe there is nothing more inspiring than when a community comes together to remember those who we have lost to this battle, and also to support those who are still fighting it. Each year we are humbled by the support and generosity we receive from our community. We look forward to hosting more successful walks in the years to come! Together we are stronger and this disease can be beaten!

The Shuffling Walking Team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to The Portuguese Forum Youth, Paulo Franco from The Portuguese Forum South Africa and Holy Rosary School for their incredible support and assistance throughout our 2026 Family Fun Walk for Cancer Awareness.

As a small token of our gratitude, we were honoured to present each with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their time, dedication and contribution to helping us make a difference in the fight against cancer.

💗 TURNING EVERY STEP INTO HOPE 💗

One of the most meaningful parts of our Family Fun Walk is knowing that the funds raised are put straight back into our community.

We are incredibly proud to have handed over R100,000 to each of our four nominated charities — a total of R400,000 — thanks to everyone who walked, donated, sponsored and supported The Shuffling Walking Team.

🌸 The Breast Health Foundation
Working to create greater awareness of breast health and breast cancer, empowering women through education, information, support and access to appropriate healthcare resources. Breast Health Foundation breasthealthfoundationsa

💗 Stepping Stone Hospice Alberton
Providing specialist palliative and hospice care to people living with life-limiting illnesses, while supporting their families through an incredibly difficult journey. Their services include home-based care, inpatient care and bereavement counselling. Stepping Stone Hospice steppingstonehospice

🩷 East Rand Palliative Care
Providing compassionate, holistic palliative care in the comfort of patients’ homes, together with counselling, bereavement support and practical assistance for patients and their families facing life-threatening illnesses. East Rand Palliative Care eastrandpalliativecare

🐮 The Cows for CHOC
Raising funds to support CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA and help make the journey easier for children with cancer and their families through services such as emotional support, accommodation, transport and family support programmes. The Cows the_choc_cows

The balance of the funds raised goes to The Shuffling Walking Team Community Cancer Fund, which is used to assist individuals in our community with cancer-related needs. This year alone, we have already paid out more than R90,000 to help community members with cancer-related medical expenses.

This is what 15 years of walking, giving and caring is all about. ❤️
