Some moments remind us why partnerships matter so deeply and this is one of them. 💛

We have some awesome news! A group of our learners has now been successfully placed in organisations where their skills, potential and hard work can truly come to life.

Our , program created the learning opportunity and our partner LWN Agency helped open the door to building livelihoods that matter for our Umuzi Learners.

To our learners, this moment of transition, should be one that you are proud of . We are deeply grateful to SAP and LWN for walking this journey with us and mostly for believing in what our learners can become.

When organisations come together with a shared belief in the potential of young people, something meaningful becomes possible.

We’re honoured to be partnering with the Trevor Noah Foundation through the Khulani Nathi Innovation Fund to launch a Social Ambassadorship Programme that will support a group of young people over the next three years.

These are real placements in real communities, where young people will support local organisations and micro-businesses with the digital and technical help they need to keep going. This initiative supports growth and the core mission to support those who serve our communities.

This is what it looks like when opportunity is placed where life is actually happening.

Through our partnership with The Collective X, we have nurtured two cohorts of talented freelancers who are now ready to step into the world, bringing creativity, resilience and expertise to organisations that need them.

We all know that skill alone doesn't open doors. That’s why we’re looking for freelance projects, employers, and opportunity partners who believe in talent and want to collaborate. These candidates are prepared to deliver real value, whether as freelancers or as part of your team.

This is a great collaboration built on partnership, helping to create sustainable livelihoods and strengthen communities.

The start of an internship is more than a new chapter; it’s a defining moment. At the WesBank Immersion Day, our learners stepped into that moment with courage, supported by a partner who believes in unlocking potential. Andrew Levy offered advice that captured the heart of this transition: “You’ve got to punch your ticket.”

That statement wasn’t just words; it was a call to action. It reminded us that readiness is proven in practice, and that partners like WesBank make it possible for young people to turn preparation into lived experience.

We’re proud to share this reflection on what it means to meet opportunity with action, and why collaboration matters in shaping the future of work.

Partnerships are at their best when they grow into communities, and that’s exactly what our journey with BBD has become. Over the years, we’ve welcomed cohort after cohort, each one bringing fresh energy, new ideas, and a shared commitment to learning and building.

This year, we’re excited to welcome two new groups into the fold: an internship cohort and a learnership cohort.

They’re stepping into a space shaped by those who came before, ready to add their own voices to the story. For us, every new cohort is a reminder that growth isn’t just about skills, it’s about people, relationships, and the future we’re shaping together.

Welcome to the Umuzi x BBD community and here’s to another chapter of learning, thriving, and making a difference.

When young people are given real problems to solve, they rise.
Our Umuzi learners (now WesBank Interns) presented solutions to a WesBank team, tackling real challenges that exist within one of the teams.

The result?

Ideas that were bold, practical, and genuinely impressive.
The room shifted from curiosity to awe.

This is what happens when experience is not simulated, but real.

It was a powerful moment for everyone who witnessed it.
And a big thank you to WesBank for making it all possible.

We’re incredibly proud to share that 22 Umuzi learners have officially joined WesBank as interns. This is a partnership grounded in the powerful idea that potential means nothing without opportunity.

WesBank’s investment in creating real workplace exposure reflects a broader commitment to realities like inclusion, economic participation, and long-term impact, which fundamentally shift these learners' life trajectories.

To the Umuzi learners stepping into this moment, congratulations! This is your beginning.

To partners willing to open doors like this to young people, this is how we change the system.
