Meet Ms Cyan Pillay, our energetic Grade 5 teacher at Vuleka St Mark’s! Since joining us in August 2024, Ms Pillay has brought a vibrant spark to our English department. With two years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase, she believes that language is more than just words—it’s a gateway to expression and imagination.

As the youngest in her family, she brings a youthful energy to the classroom that makes learning truly fun. When she isn’t inspiring our students, Ms Pillay expresses her own creativity through drawing, dancing, and building. We are so pleased to have her imaginative spirit as part of the Vuleka family! 🌟

Learning about pollution is one thing. Getting out there and doing something about it is another!

Our learners had a field day exploring the topic of Pollution through group discussions, brainstorming, a litter clean-up and presentations of their ideas and understanding.

From sharing thoughts to taking action, they are discovering that even small actions can make a big difference to the world around us. 🌱

And this is only the beginning…We can't wait to see what they bring to their individual presentations!

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Anathi Moroe 🌟

Did you know Mrs Moroe’s favourite role is being a new mum? Or that she’s a fan of spicy Asian food and organizing games? 📂🍱

In the classroom, she’s a total game-changer (literally!). She believes that a positive environment is built through play. By turning lessons into competitions and using technology like the projector, she keeps her students motivated and working together as a team.

There’s something special about starting the school day with a good book.

At Vuleka, our learners have dedicated reading time from 7:30–7:45am every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, creating a calm, focused start to the day and giving our learners precious time to simply read. ❤️

Reading is also built into our timetable through paired reading lessons, where learners read together, support one another and build confidence along the way.
