Reach For A Dream fulfils the dreams of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness by a medical practitioner. We do not discriminate based on race, culture, financial status or any other factor. Each child living with a life-threatening illness is given a chance to dream. Reach For A Dream believes that no child should live without hope. Childhood can be the most magical phase of the human existence, filled with dreams, aspirations and most of all… fun! For children who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness, the magic of childhood may be lost in the emotional, physical and financial strain of dealing with their illness. Reach For A Dream tries to alleviate some of this strain (which often affects the whole family), by creating a different environment for the child – one that is not focused on her/ his illness. We would like our children to find their laughter again and therein find the strength to live beyond their illnesses.

Always excited to try new things and challenge herself is 11-year-old Zothile. The young girl from King Williams Town lives with a renal impairment and loves to create beautiful moments with her family.

True to her adventurous nature, Zothile tried a new experience on her Dream Day. She was buzzing with excitement when she was taken to a go-kart track for a thrilling chase. Zothile’s confidence shone through as she took the curves with sharp precision and determination on her face.

After fulfilling her need for speed, Zothile was led to a table set up with balloons and wrapped boxes waiting just for her. She unwrapped them to reveal her dream iPad and headphones, pure disbelief plastered on her face before she broke into a huge grin.

Zothile tried a new experience, had her dream come true and made unforgettable memories.

Bright, curious and always ready to laugh is three-year-old Lillian. The young girl from Kameeldrift bravely lives with Osteogenis Imperfecta. Her contagious laugh is proof that dynamite comes in small packages.

At Play Containers, Lillian’s dream day was an afternoon of absolute fun. She jumped on the jumping castles, squealing with glee at every leap.

Her dream came true during lunch. Little Lillian and her family settled around the table and the happy dreamer unwrapped the box in front of her, revealing her dream Bubblegum tablet.

Lillian’s new tablet will teach her the necessary skills in a fun and cool way she’ll enjoy.

Nakhane is a shy, warm-hearted and animal loving young boy. The 12-year-old from Uitenhage enjoys spending time with his family, his love for them radiates through his beautiful smile. He dreamed of owning a PlayStation 5, so he could play his favourite games at home.

His Dream Day was spent at Kragga Kamma Game Park where he buzzed with excitement as he spotted the wild animals. Nakhane’s joy spilled over when he was pulled into a game of hide and seek during the game drive, his mission was to find a parcel with his name on it.

Into the bushes he went looking for this mystery parcel, and he was thrilled when he found the wrapped box. Nakhane unwrapped it to reveal his dream PlayStation 5, the smile on his face bigger than the Big 5!

His dream come true disappeared the pain he was in on the day, reminding him of the power dreams have to bring joy.

This Childhood Cancer Awareness month, we commend the bravery of all our dreamers living with cancer.

Taking on every day with renewed courage and receiving treatment with a hopeful spirit, they show us what it means to be brave.

Dreams fulfilled show these children that they are more than a diagnosis, they remind them that their Dreams Matter.

From racing around the track to taking a spin in a Lamborghini, Ceejay’s Dream Day was full of unforgettable moments!

The adventure began at Kyalami Indoor Karting, where Ceejay took to the track with his mum and dad while his sisters cheered from the sidelines.

After some podium photos, the family heard the unmistakable sound of a supercar approaching. His little sister immediately called it: “That’s a Lamborghini!” She was right, and Ceejay could hardly contain his excitement when he found out he was going for a spin.

Next stop was Wimpy SA, where an even bigger moment was waiting. Surrounded by his family, balloons and gifts, Ceejay was presented with his dream: his very own Xbox. His reaction said it all. He kissed the box, hugged it tightly and could not wait to get home and start playing.

For Ceejay, who has undergone a kidney transplant, this was a day to simply have fun, feel celebrated and make special memories with the people he loves most.

Big red trucks, long firehoses and the fireman’s suit are five-year-old Lunje’s biggest passion. The young, bright boy from Gqeberha is confident and dreams of one day being a firefighter.

Lunje’s bubbly personality was the order of his special Dream Day. He became an exclusive member of the Humewood Fire Station team, dressed in his special suit and hard hat. He enjoyed an unforgettable ride around the block in a fire truck with the siren blaring, experienced how the powerful water hose works, and explored the station alongside his heroes.

His day was made extra special when he unwrapped his dream tablet, grinning from ear to ear with pure joy. Lunje took in the moment his dream came true, a special time he’ll always remember.

Bright and curious Liyema is adventurous young girl who loves to explore. The six-year-old from Witbank enjoys learning about exotic animals all around the world.

She spent her Dream Day at Duckpond, learning and feeding all the special birds the park had to offer.

After a beautiful afternoon, Liyema's new room was revealed to her. Her beautiful face brightened up at her special dream come true.

Olothando loves to share jokes and gets to show off his beautiful smile when they land with the crowd. He lives each day hopeful of what’s next.

The 11-year-old from Mthatha is passionate about exploring the kitchen and making his own food. He dreams of being a chef when he grows up.

Olothando experienced his love for cooking in a real restaurant kitchen at Cafe' LANG, complete with the chef’s uniform and top hat on his Dream Day. He whipped up the freshest ingredients to make his favourite pizza.

While waiting for his pizza to cool down, Olothando unwrapped his dream, a brand-new cellphone, and flashed that beautiful smile once again. His face was a pure reflection of joy at his dream come true.
