Reach For A Dream fulfils the dreams of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness by a medical practitioner. We do not discriminate based on race, culture, financial status or any other factor. Each child living with a life-threatening illness is given a chance to dream. Reach For A Dream believes that no child should live without hope. Chil

dhood can be the most magical phase of the human existence, filled with dreams, aspirations and most of all… fun! For children who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness, the magic of childhood may be lost in the emotional, physical and financial strain of dealing with their illness. Reach For A Dream tries to alleviate some of this strain (which often affects the whole family), by creating a different environment for the child – one that is not focused on her/ his illness. We would like our children to find their laughter again and therein find the strength to live beyond their illnesses.

Little Okwam is a ball of energy and lights up every room she walks into. The 3-year-old from Stutterheim loves everything purple educational games and Ms Rachel.

Her Dream Day at Gravity Indoor Trampoline Park East London was the best day of her life and made extra special with balloon decorations in her favourite colour. Grinning from ear to ear, she clutched on to as many balloons as her little hands could hold on to, all the way to where her dream was set up.

With adventure pumping through her little body, Okwam eagerly tore open the wrapped boxes revealing her dream Bubblegum tablet. Her voice was barely a whisper but her, “Thank you” was heard by everyone around her.

She celebrated her special day over lunch with her mother and filled with new possibilities, she ran across the adventure park, swinging, sliding, squealing with the joy her dream come true gave her.

Happy Dream Day, Okwam!

A shy and softspoken nine-year-old Noah from Cape Town had a unique dream that he knew would bring him incredible joy.

He is passionate about trucks and his biggest dream was to ride in one. The team at Baxline made this special dream a reality for our excited dreamer. Senior driver, Godie, took Noah under his wing and told him all about his time behind the big, great wheel.

As an added treat, Noah was the first ever person to take a ride in Baxline’s newest and most powerful FAW truck. His excitement peaked when he had the opportunity to drive an old-school, long-nose black truck, his joy palpable behind the wheel.

Noah’s magical dream day drew to an incredible close when he was surprised with a PlayStation 5 to celebrate his bravery.
Happy Dream Day, Noah!

Thank you to Baxline and Godie for making Noah’s dream day an unforgettable one.

Her Dream Day gave her the chance to experience several firsts. After arriving at Hemingways Mall with her sister, Indiphile chose the movie she wanted to watch before collecting her tickets. Waiting for her at the counter was a surprise she had always dreamed of: her very own cellphone. She carefully unwrapped her gift before heading off to enjoy her very first cinema experience.

After the movie, Indiphile and her sister enjoyed a meal together, ending a day filled with new experiences and unforgettable memories.

Every part of the experience reflected Indiphile's dream of owning a cellphone while allowing her to enjoy moments she had never experienced before.

Wearing a big smile on her Dream Day was nine-year old Semihle from Durban. She loves playing games and watching cartoons and would love to own a tablet so she can watch her favourites from anywhere. She’s naturally caring and dreams of one day being a nurse.

On her Dream Day, Semihle and her family arrived at Funtubbles at Gateway for an afternoon of fun games and excitement for the little girl. Playing to her heart’s content, Semihle didn't realise her dream was about to come true.

She was asked to close her eyes really tight and handed a wrapped box for her to open. When she realised it’s a tablet, her shock instantly turned into joy that lasted through the rest of the day. Semihle couldn’t wait to finish her Wimpy lunch so she could go home to watch cartoons on her dream tablet.

Happy Dream Day, Semihle!
