The English Academy is very sad to note the recent passing of Prof. Stan Ridge. Stan was President of the Academy from 2009 to 2012 when he retired. He was part of the management at the University of the Western Cape until his retirement. His acute insight into university administration was one of the many talents he had as a leader. And his love for English was boundless. We will miss his wisdom and inspiring presence at Academy events. We sincerely extend our condolences to his wife, Elaine, and their children.
