The African Urban Institute is an urban development think tank that researches on sustainability, inclusiveness, and prosperity of cities in Africa on their urban transition. The institute’s mandate is to discover and share knowledge on urban transformation in Southern Africa, contextualisation of urban best practice and review of urban performances. ghts and analytical reviews in its quarterly magazine, and annual reports on state of cities. The institute also publish briefing papers for policy makers in urban planning and allied disciplines. The Institute believes in inclusiveness, prosperity and sustainability of urban areas. The Institute’s research agenda spans across five broad themes, urban planning, urban economy, urban environment, urban governance and urban communities.
