Today, on International Womenโs Day, we give thanks to God for the courage, faith, and resolve of women across the world.
Throughout Scripture, women are seen courageously stepping into Godโs purposes. In the Old Testament, Esther risked her life before the king so that her people might be spared. Deborah rose as a judge in Israel, bringing wisdom and leadership in a time of national uncertainty. Ruth displayed remarkable faith and loyalty, becoming part of the very lineage through which the Messiah would come. One of the earliest witnesses to Christ in Johnโs Gospel is the woman at the well, who returned to her town and declared what she had seen and heard. Through her testimony, many believed in the Lord (John 4:28-30, 39).
Across the global work of the Great Commission Society, we see that same courage today. Women are serving Christ in some of the most difficult places on earth. Many labour in regions where women face discrimination, social restriction, or even danger for their faith. For reasons of safety and cultural reality, much of their work cannot be widely spoken about, yet their influence for the Gospel reaches deeply into homes, communities, and nations.
We honour these women not as a secondary presence in ministry, but as faithful servants whom the Lord is using for the advance of His Kingdom. In many contexts, their perseverance, wisdom, and spiritual courage open doors that others cannot reach, allowing the message of Christ to travel where it would otherwise remain unheard.
Our prayer today is simple. May the Lord strengthen every woman who carries the name of Christ into difficult places. May He raise up many more who will speak of Christ with humility, conviction, and bold faith.
For the mission belongs to God. The Gospel of Jesus Christ remains the hope of the world, and when men and women alike yield their lives to Him, the good news of salvation continues to reach the nations.
With prayer and gratitude,
