Video well worth listening to. As women in South Africa, we are tought to be careful every day. Watch your surroundings. Don't walk alone. Share your location. Check your back seat, Lock your doors.
Now, once again, we are being told to be even more vigilant.
But when do we stop asking women to change their behaviour and start asking men to stop killing women?
How many more names. How many more victims. How many more families destroyed before enough is enough.

15 July. 24 August. 7 September. 10 September. 12 September. 14 September. 15 September.

It started with five women. Then six. Then seven. Today, it is eight!!

Eight women. Three months. One broader area. A dedicated police task team. A reward for information. Yet eight families are grieving and communities are living in fear.

Are these cases connected? We do not know. That is for investigators to establish. What we do know is that eight women have lost their lives, and eight families are facing unimaginable loss.

As EPIC Foundation, our hearts break for every victim, every family waiting for answers, and every woman who wonders if she will arrive home safely.

We march. We speak out. We pray. We raise awareness. Yet the violence continues!

On 18 September, many South Africans will be wearing black in remembrance of these women and in solidarity with all victims of gender-based violence.

Let us remember their lives. Let us support the families. Let us refuse to become numb.

The EPIC Foundation's Fairy Godmother Project has completely run out of boys' suits in sizes 28, 30, 32 and 34.

These suits help young men who would otherwise not have suitable clothing for matric farewells, interviews, and other important occasions.

If you have a suit you no longer use, please consider donating it and giving a young person the opportunity to stand tall with confidence.

WOMEN'S MONTH MAY BE ENDING, BUT THE CONVERSATION MUST CONTINUE

Throughout this month, we explored important topics including rights, safety, support, justice, healing, and hope.

While Women's Month provides an opportunity to raise awareness, our commitment to creating safer communities must extend beyond a single month.

📚 Knowledge creates awareness.
📢 Awareness inspires action.
🤝 Action creates change.

Together, we can continue to challenge violence, support survivors, promote healthy relationships, and build communities where dignity, respect, and safety are valued by all.

A heartfelt thank you to Oriental Plaza for their generous donation of evening dresses and suits towards Epic Foundation’s Fairy Godmother Project.

Because of your kindness, boys and girls who would have missed their matric farewell due to financial constraints will now step into this milestone with dignity, confidence, and joy.

Together, we are turning dreams into reality and ensuring no child is left behind.

Without the support of our community we cannot do the work we do in the GBV field. Thank you so much for all the effort and kind donations from the Doringkloof Primary School.

Our second Mandela Day project was all about making a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing crisis. Our learners and families collected essential items for EPIC Foundation’s comfort packs, helping provide comfort, care and dignity to women, men and children in difficult circumstances.

These Comfort Packs are given to survivors of gender-based violence during reporting, crisis intervention and shelter placement — offering a small reminder that they are seen, supported and not alone. 🤍

Every donation, no matter how big or small, became part of something much bigger. Each item donated was a gesture of kindness, compassion and hope.

Thank you to everyone who opened their hearts and contributed to this very special Mandela Day initiative. Together, we are teaching our learners that real change begins with small acts of kindness.
