Opening Scripture: Psalm 34:2

True gratitude to God must come from within. There is a difference between being grateful for what God has given us and being grateful because we have encountered God, come to know Him, and experienced His work in our lives.

We must not seek God only for what He can give us or simply because we see others being blessed. God has a purpose for each of us, and His blessings are not based on comparison. He gives according to His will and purpose for our lives.

Genuine thanksgiving goes deeper than words. We cannot truly live a grateful life without encountering God. Preaching can give us direction, but an encounter with God produces willingness. When we personally encounter God, we begin to understand who He is, and our obedience, worship, and commitment become genuine responses from within rather than things we are forced to do.

When we develop a relationship with God, our willingness to serve, obey and honour Him begins to change. Without that encounter, we can hear the Word for years and still carry bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, grudges and conflict. Hearing the Word is not the same as allowing the Word to transform us.

Our willingness to serve must be supported by understanding. It is not enough to simply confess that we are willing. We must understand what God is calling us to do. Without understanding, willingness can turn into frustration, and determination can eventually fade.

We need to reach a place where we become people with truly grateful souls, grateful not only for what God has done, but because we have discovered who He is.

Opening Scripture: Psalm 34:1-3

There is a level at which you need to operate. Always understand that your thanksgiving to God should not be traditional or based on mere routine, but on your personal encounter with Him.

When you remember what you have been through, you appreciate God even more. Every success has a testimony behind it. There was a victory before you started succeeding.

It is not easy to give genuine gratitude to God.

The time has come for you to seek who God is in your life, so you can see who you truly are and appreciate the works of God, not just the materialistic manifestations of His works.

Familiarity stops people from noticing what God does for them, and when that happens, people start to separate themselves from the church, from fellowship and from God.

It is expected that each generation of Christians must do greater than the previous one, and that includes appreciating God and giving Him proper thanksgiving. Giving thanks to God should never become a ritual or a tradition, but rather it should be tied to the experiences you have had with God. Unfortunately, those experiences with God are limited, since many Christians have become familiar with the ways of God and no longer see the victories that God gives them.

Opening Scripture: 1 Chronicles 14: 2, 8- 11

Each and every one of us has a cross that we have to carry and assignments that we have to fulfill. Though the cross might be heavy for us, we need to endure. No one is capable of carrying your cross on your behalf.

Carrying our cross might cause us to lack peace, because it comes with a lot of responsibilities and attachments to the cross.When you are anointed, you have to understand the meaning of the cross and that you still have to go through whatever assignment has been given to you.

The anointing of God comes with baggage. God does not anoint you and leave you stranded. In the midst of God's process, learn to be grateful for what God is bringing, whether it is what you desire or not.

Inquire and be patient enough to hear from God. Familiarity with the works of God is what destroys us, because we always think that when we inquire of God, it will be according to our mentality.

Opening Scripture: Matthew 6:33

When we hear about carrying the cross, we often think about trouble, pain, battles, and suffering. But the cross can also speak about responsibility and the assignment God has given you.

As you journey with God, there is always something to learn, discover, and understand. God may first build you with spiritual understanding, wisdom and the ability to serve better before anything else is added.

Look beyond yourself and understand your assignment, because God can use your life to help, reach and deliver somebody else.

Take responsibility for what you are planting through your prayer, obedience, sacrifice and the way you live. Prayer does not remove responsibility. You must also do what God has instructed you to do.

Be careful what you allow into your life. Be discerning about what is influencing you. You cannot be obedient to just anything. Do not always be the one who is influenced. Become an influencer and protect what God is building in you.

Opening Scripture: 1 Peter 1: 3

There are certain things that you cannot fulfil if you have abandoned your cross or the will of God. No matter how long you delay yourself, there are some things you will still have to rectify before you can move forward.

The cross comes with challenges, and abandoning your cross will not make things easier. It might seem easier on the flesh, but in reality, it only causes delay.

Giving up on your cross is not an option. No matter what comes with carrying it, you need to endure. Always seek to discover what is weighing you down and preventing you from carrying your cross, and work on overcoming it.
