Bags of Hope is a non-profit organisation based in Johannesburg, bringing sparks of light to women going through dark times. We aim to restore dignity and hope with a small gift: a handbag full of goodies and a bible. We have visited, and will continue to visit annually, over 20 shelters in Gauteng.

“In 2014, while on holiday, a friend of mine was involved in Bags of Hope in the small town of Geo

rge. On my way back to Joburg, I thought it would be a wonderful idea to set up something similar here. After contacting my friends and family, and feeling the enthusiasm from everyone the idea touched, our first shelter drop-off happened soon after I got back to Johannesburg. To date, we’ve given out over 2000 bags to women in need.”

Bags of Hope include personal care items such as:

1. Brush or comb
4. Wetwipes
5. Sani pads
6. Hand cream
7. Tooth brush and toothpaste
8. Small pack of tissues
9. Note pad and pen
10. Treat to eat or keep
