June 16 Youth Development Foundation is an independent delivery agent of youth economic, social and educational development projects, based on the history and heritage of 1976 and the related youth struggles. June 16 Youth Development Foundation was established “by the youth, for the youth and with the youth and the some of the youth and leaders of 1976” with the belief that issues of youth develo
pment are every day issues and they cannot be resolved without the youth leading the process. June 16 Youth Development Foundation was/is formed to preserve, protect and promote the heritage and history of the values, virtues and victories of youth leadership and involvement in the liberation, growth and development of South Africa and Africa. June 16 Youth Development Foundation is also seeking to bring back the dignity of the day ,June 16, as the day of reflection and projection on youth leadership values, virtues and victories. June 16 Youth Development Foundation believes that the current generation of youth have different challenges from those of the 1976 youth and these challenges are both related to economic and social development:
The Social Development Enterprise programmes seek to give support in different areas of community development and contribute towards alleviation of the social ills such poverty, lack of basic skills; fight against HIV&AIDS and Xenophobia
Youth Economic Empowerment programmes seek to confront unemployment, find youth business opportunities and develop different skills which are related to business and employment
The creation of the Youth Development Bank is the idea that seeks to gain momentum within the youth development movement based on the community banking concept
June 16 Youth Foundation is registered in South Africa as a Section 21 Company. June 16 Youth Development Foundation programmes stand on four main pillars:
