This Women’s Day, we’re celebrating girls too — by making sure they enter womanhood feeling prepared, supported and cared for. 🌸💗

Johannesburg Dream Center is launching our Period Box Drive for girls living below the breadline and attending fee-free schools. These boxes will be placed at schools so that when a young girl gets her first period, she doesn’t have to face that moment scared, embarrassed or without the essentials she needs.

Each Period Box will include:
💗 Sanitary pads
💗 A clean pair of panties
💗 Black short tights/ski pants to wear discreetly under her school dress
💗 Body spray
💗 A little chocolate treat
💗 A handwritten letter of encouragement

It may look like a small box, but to a young girl caught completely unprepared, it can mean dignity, comfort, confidence and knowing that someone thought of her.

Some feedback from distributing some of our Mandela Month donations. We loved how some beneficiaries got to truly feel what overflow felt like- leaving with boxes of donations that were larger than we thought they could carry!

🧶 **Help us turn creativity into opportunity!**

Johannesburg Dream Center is launching a new crochet skills project to teach unemployed women a practical and creative skill in a supportive environment.

To get the project started, we need donations of:

🧶 Wool or yarn
🪝 Crochet hooks
🪡 Wool needles
✂️ Small scissors
🔘 Buttons

New or gently used items are welcome, provided they are clean and in good condition.

Every donation will help a woman learn a new skill, build confidence and create hope for a brighter future.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at Johannesburg Dream Center, Northlands Corner, North Riding.

A sincere thank you to Lombard Insurance for their generous donation of nearly 800 sandwiches to the Johannesburg Dream Center.
Corporate partnerships like these make it possible for us to reach more individuals and families experiencing hardship across Johannesburg. Every sandwich distributed was an opportunity to share not only a meal, but also hope, dignity and encouragement.
Thank you for investing in our community and helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of people.

This Mandela Day, let’s come together to make a real difference in our community! ❤️

Join the Johannesburg Dream Center as we serve families through:
🌭 Free hot dog distribution
🎨 Face painting for the children
🎲 Fun games and activities
🧹 Community clean-up
💙 And lots of kindness and hope!

Volunteer Meeting Times:
📍 Meet at the Johannesburg Dream Center offices before 8:00 AM if you’d like to travel with the team.
OR
📍 Meet us at the event venue at 9:00 AM.
