🇵🇹🇿🇦 **A significant Portuguese investment in South Africa**

The South African Portuguese Chamber of Commerce was delighted to attend the official opening of Grupel South Africa’s new premises on 1 October 2026.

This important investment represents a major milestone in Grupel’s international expansion. The new operation will be the company’s first production facility outside Portugal, with generators to be assembled locally in South Africa.

More than simply establishing a new branch, Grupel has made a long-term commitment to South Africa and the wider African continent. Its plans include contributing to the local economy, creating employment, transferring technical and industrial knowledge, and establishing a Grupel Training Academy for its local teams, partners and customers.

Guests were warmly welcomed by Pedro Constantino, Managing Director of Grupel South Africa. Also present was Grupel’s owner and CEO, Marco Santos, whose vision and leadership have driven this exciting new chapter in the company’s growth.

The premises were officially opened by His Excellency Carlos Costa Neves, Ambassador of Portugal to South Africa, who highlighted the importance of Portuguese companies investing in South Africa and the positive contribution such investments make to bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

The SAPCC was represented by Rui Marto, Ricardo de Freitas and Rui Fragoso.

We are extremely proud to have Grupel as a Premium Member of the SAPCC and congratulate the entire Grupel team on this bold and significant investment. It reflects confidence in South Africa, strengthens the economic ties between Portugal and South Africa, and creates a strong platform from which Grupel can expand throughout the African continent.

We wish Pedro, Marco and the entire Grupel South Africa team every success as they begin this exciting new journey.

**Parabéns, Grupel — and welcome to South Africa!**
