"The power of words"

I feel compelled to continue writing about hope, as it may bring encouragement to someone in need. The recent episode of Koortjies highlighted the destructive nature of negative words, as shared by the guest lady.

Words are powerful. It has the power to set the course of someone's life. I grew up with a friend who had a slight disability. His nose was always running, teeth protruding and he had a awkward limp. His stepmother didn't make it any easier. He so much wanted to be loved and accepted. They nicknamed him, " Monster".

He became a real Monster. As an adult he murdered and committed heinous crimes. Most of his adult life was spent in jail before he died.

If a negative word can cause so much harm, how much more can a positive word impact the life of a person. We're all created in the image of God. We have attributes of God in us. People judge us by their limited human standards. David was a Sheppard boy, but God saw in him King. Gideon was a weakling but God saw in him a mighty warrior. Jesus' hometown seen him as the carpenters son but God saw him as the Saviour of the world.

Change your thinking, align your thoughts with the truth of God's word. You have value, you are wonderfully and fearfully made, you can do all things through Christ that gives you the strength. You are far more than what you think.

"Delay is not denial"

It is crucial to acknowledge that delay does not necessarily translate to denial. In certain situations, we become entangled in circumstances beyond our control. The future appears bleak, and all attempts have been unsuccessful.

Despondency and depression have become an everyday reality. Perhaps your challenge revolves around securing employment, a child struggling with addiction, chronic illness, financial stress, feelings of worthlessness, a divorce, to name a few.

I have learned that circumstances and situations can change. Storms arise and storms pass. The secret is to have patience in your storm, as there are no quick fixes. Sometimes God does not take away the storm but rather takes us through the storm.

Hope gives us expectation. You must know that when you love God, He will make all things work together for your good. One day you'll look back and have appreciation for the struggle days. In the storm, character was built, prayer and a relationship with God were refined, and faith was developed. Don't give up, press on

"Forward we go"

2024 has been a bitter sweet year, sweet because God has been good and gracious to us. Bitter because we lost so many of our loved ones, even today, there was a burial of a loved one.

2025 will come with its own surprises. Irrespective of the unknown I'm convinced that God would not want us to be consumed with fear and anxiety. I take courage from the verse below.

Joshua 1:9 AMP
[9] Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Wherever we go He will be with us. In the midst of weakness we will be strong, in the midst of setbacks we will be courageous. We will not be terrified or dismayed because our God is with us.

Wishing you All a blessed 2025 ✨️✨️✨️

" It's Christmas 🎄 I wish you were here"

Yesterday I received a call from a grieving Mother and wife. The death of her husband has turned her world upside down. She must now assume the role of her husband and carry the weight of financial responsibility. I don't think that people will ever understand the burden of a grieving Mom or Dad. Having had the experience myself helped me to share a word of encouragement.

There are so many families that are grieving the loss of a loved one. Especially during this time, when everyone is celebrating Christmas, some homes will have an empty seat, a big void, a silenced voice and an undescribable emptiness.

The process of grieving is very necessary. The journey for each person is different. She told me that she needed to be strong for the children and therefore did not cry, she showed very little emotion. This resulted in compounded grieving. It comes with interest, heavier and intensive.

Nothing can heal the soul like tears. I encouraged her to cry and feel whatever she felt. If it is longing than long for him, if it is nostalgia than go down memory lane. Never let people tell you otherwise. Time does not heal all wounds, it is God that heals us over time. The body heals when injured so does the soul heal when battered. God created us to heal.

I don't think that we'll ever get over the loss of a loved one, we learn to live with it. They say life goes on, yes life has to go on. The secret is not to stay in a perpetual cycle of grieving, but allow for healing to take place and continue to live. Do not die with the dead. God will take you to the other side, it might seem far, God will take you to the side of healing and wholeness.
