ASC participated today in the National Human Border and Responsible Migration Conference held at the Sandton Convention Centre where stakeholders reflected on South Africa’s role in protecting refugees and asylum seekers and strengthening inclusive national systems.
Discussions highlighted the country’s commitments under the Global Compact on Refugees and the Global Refugee Forum while also recognising the important role played by the Department of Social Development in providing social work support, protection for migrant children and assistance to survivors of gender based violence.
The conference also reflected on ongoing challenges including documentation delays, pressure on asylum systems and the need to strengthen social cohesion in communities. ASC remains committed to contributing to efforts that uphold dignity, protection and human rights for all.
