5 CURRENT FACTS ABOUT DRUGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

1. WHAT IS DRUG ADDICTION?
A disease that affects the brain and behaviour, making it difficult for a person to stop using legal or illegal drugs despite harmful consequences.

2. WHO IS AT RISK?
Anyone can be affected. Risk factors include family history, mental health challenges, peer pressure, lack of family support, and early exposure.

3. SIGNS & SYMPTOMS
Intense cravings, needing more to feel the same effect, spending money despite financial problems, and continuing use even when it harms you or others.

4. MOST ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCES
Opioids, stimulants (m**h, co***ne), and synthetic drugs (K2, Spice, Nyaope) – all can cause psychosis, seizures, and fatal overdose.

5. PREVENTION & TREATMENT
Prevention starts with saying NO and using prescribed medicines correctly. Treatment includes counselling, support groups, and medication. Early help = better recovery.
