Our Story
1000 Drawings is an art-for-charity initiative that changes lives. Throughout the year people create artworks in an A5 format. These can be doodles, sketches, painting, photographs, etching, embroidery – we’ve even had a donation in pewter, any kind of art as long as it’s A5.
Anyone can do doodle – in coffee shops, galleries and tattoo parlours around Johannesburg, host their own doodle-dos or create art in private. Drop-off boxes for artwork are located around Joburg, encouraging people to doodle and drop-off as much as possible.
All are welcome to donate to make a difference, from novice to pro. Draw, photograph, embroider anything as long as it's A5 format. Night of 1000 Drawings is a unique fundraising exhibition, where drawings donated by anyone and everyone, are collected and sold to the public. The one night only exhibition made possible by every-buddy out there donating A5 artworks (anything from sketches, photos, mosaics - we love it all!) which sell to the public for R100.
All proceeds go to charity. The charities we are supporting in 2018 / 2019 are Dlala Nje ( www.DlalaNje.org), Everybody Love Everybody - ELE (http://www.ele.org.za) and Paballo Ya Batho. Also happy to be part of this amazing network: forgood.co.za
