Heard of Eco bricks?
Every week I pick up a bag of plastic plastic litter discarded by school children from outside my house. I bet other residents do the same and together we can easily demonstrate to our schools that they are collectively responsible for a huge amount of plastic waste in our community. Please teach your children not to litter. It does not help that these thin plastic wrappings are seldom recyclable. But there is another option. So here is my challenge to EVERY school in the area,
Collect your tiny plastic waste and make eco bricks. Eco bricks are plastic coldrink bottles stuffed with plastic litter! You could help someone build a home. Here’s a link:

Ecobricks prevent plastic from becoming trash, waste, recycling, incineration or pollution. Eco bricks enable non-capital, zero-waste, net-zero, plastic sequestration.

The iconic suburb of Kensington first established in 1897 is one of the most desirable suburbs to live in Johannesburg. Rich in cultural heritage, packed with enduring architectural masterpieces, excellent schools and awe-inspiring landscapes that include more hills and surrounding greenbelts than any other part of the city, Kensington has one of the highest numbers of self-employed entrepreneurs because it is a great place to live and work and play.

Our cultural heritage is an evolving tapestry of Pan Africanism boasting one of the most integrated societies in South Africa across both ethnicity and class and is one of the most desirable investment locations for the new emerging middle class.

Kensington's central location makes it one of the most accessible in Johannesburg, with easy access to the O.R Tambo International Airport, new urban artistic centres like Maboneng, and some of the best shopping at Eastgate Shopping Centre, Darras Centre and Bedford Centre all just 5-15 minutes away.

While we are an old piece of the city build on gold, we have infrastructure and space to grow to become one of the key mixed development hubs in Johannesburg with wide avenues that can accommodate public transport, housing and small business with thousands of large properties ripe for commercial rezoning and densification.

The people of Kensington care deeply about our suburb. We are embracing a new era of opportunity and look forward to welcoming visionaries, leaders and dreamers who will help us fulfill our vision of clean, prosperous and harmonious community where everyone can thrive.
