A Weekend Filled with Heart, Culture & Passion! 🇵🇹❤️
This weekend, we were privileged to receive our very first invitation to perform at St John’s Baptist Catholic Church in Brakpan, and what a wonderful experience it was!
We truly appreciate the invitation and the warm welcome. Our Portuguese Dance Society of Johannesburg performed with our hearts, sharing our beautiful culture, traditions, and passion for dancing. ❤️💃🇵🇹
The energy, the atmosphere, and the vibe were simply ON POINT! 🔥🙌
Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a special occasion. We feel blessed to share our roots, our culture, and our love for dance with our community.

Everything was so well organised, and the CWL Boksburg ladies are truly stars! ⭐👏
Prof. Carol-Ann Benn was so informative, and it is always wonderful to learn more and be kept informed about such an important cause.

The Portuguese Dancing Society of Johannesburg (PDSJHB) has been invited by St John the Bishop Catholic Church in Brakpan to perform this Sunday in celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. 🙏🌹
What an honour and privilege it is to be part of this special celebration, sharing our beautiful culture, traditions, and dance with our Catholic community.
We are truly grateful for this invitation and look forward to celebrating this blessed occasion together.

🌸 An Important Invitation for Our Women 🌸
The Portuguese Dancing Society JHB is very proud to have been invited by CWL President Sophia Dooley to attend a special High Tea this Saturday.
We will have the privilege of hearing from Prof Carol-Ann Benn, a Fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa and an internationally recognised leader in Breast Disease.
Prof Benn is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at WITS University, a founding member of the Breast Health Foundation, and has established various breast health forums and outreach programmes. She has played an important role in advancing women’s healthcare and creating greater awareness around breast health.
As women, it is so important that we understand our bodies, look after ourselves and educate ourselves about our health. 💗
We are honoured to be part of this special occasion and encourage our ladies to attend if they are able to.

💛❤️ Fundraising is part of our DNA!
Last night, some of our team got together for dinner, and 20% of our bill was donated to 1st Jorge Scout Primrose, our landlord and the wonderful place where we have the privilege of practising.
It feels so special to give back to the community that supports us. ❤️
And, to make the evening even more special, one of our team members celebrates her birthday today! 🎂🥂 We took the opportunity to celebrate her last night and make the evening extra special. 🎉❤️
It’s not always about dancing… sometimes it’s simply about coming together, supporting our community, celebrating each other and making a difference.
Proud of this team and the hearts behind it all. 🫶🏼
No fuss, no fame , just love, friendship and giving back. ❤️

💚💛❤️ Community comes together at the West Rand Portuguese Club (Hole in one in Rumsig )one heart, one community, standing together to give L🩷VE and strength to NATALIE. 💙💛💙

We were truly honoured to be invited to this special fundraising event, especially knowing that many of us had to get our “passports” ready to make the journey! 🇿🇦🇵🇹

We came together with one purpose ,to stand beside Natalie and help raise funds towards the cancer treatment she needs. ❣️

What an afternoon filled with love, music, dancing and togetherness! ❤️

We were blessed with performances by talented local artists Fatima Nery, Anna de Abreu and Mr Buccs, together with Natalie’s father, Aníbal De Freitas, her uncles Daimion De Freitas and his brother and Miro Freitas 🎧, who travelled all the way from Madeira to be part of this special day. We also fully launched our “Balinho da Madeira” song, with Fatima Nery singing alongside us.

The Portuguese Dance Society of Johannesburg 💃💃 was honoured to contribute through dance, proudly standing together with Natalie, her family and the wider Portuguese community.

A special thank you to Carlos Silva and Alberto from Voz/Forum for capturing the beautiful moments of this memorable afternoon. 📸❤️

Our hearts are full. We wish Natalie a journey filled with hope, strength, love and healing, surrounded by her daughters, husband, parents, family and everyone who is standing beside her.

Illness comes into our lives when we least expect it. Sadly, cancer seems to be affecting so many of us and the people we love.
Natalie De Figueiredo is another person facing this difficult journey. We must also remember that it is not only the patient who is affected ,the family and friends carry an enormous emotional and practical burden too.
Let’s celebrate this Saturday 26th September 2026 , by coming together and showing our support in whatever way we can, by dancing, by singing, by contributing financially, or simply by being present. ❤️
As a group, we are so proud that we have become more than just a group ,we have become a family. Together, we can help the De Figueiredo and De Freitas families and hopefully make a small difference during what is such a difficult journey.
Every little gesture counts. Together, we can bring some love, strength and hope. ❤️🙏
