South Africa is currently going through very difficult times. Sadly, women and children are often the victims of violence and abuse. There are many reasons why people hurt others,anger, fear, jealousy, the desire for control, and sometimes the influence of alcohol or drugs. No matter the reason, violence is never acceptable.
Mercy Haven home for Victims of Family Violence and Abuse in Boksburg is a safe haven where women who have experienced violence can find safety, dignity, love, and hope. Maria José Pereira and her dedicated committee work tirelessly to make these women feel human again, supported and cared for. Maria is on call 24 hours a day, together with her incredible house mothers, ensuring that these women are never alone.

As we celebrate Women's Month, we feel it is fitting that the Portuguese Dance Society Johannesburg has been invited to perform for this truly worthy cause.
Please join us this Sunday as we come together to support Mercy Haven and the courageous women they care for.

🎗️ Together for Cancer Awareness 🎗️
While cancer is not the single biggest killer globally, it remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, affecting millions of families and communities. Although there is no guaranteed way to prevent cancer, making healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce our risk.
As a team, together with our past members and current members, we have personally experienced the impact of this disease. We have a cancer survivor within our team, while some of us have also lost dear family members to cancer. This cause is therefore very close to our hearts.
We had the privilege of joining the walkers this Sunday morning in support of this important cause. Thankfully, the winter weather was on our side this year! In previous years, it was one of the coldest days ever. ❄️🥶

A huge thank you to the Shuffling Team Organisation such a meaningful morning. Of course, we cannot forget the beautiful cake organised by Joe and Maria. 🎂❤️
What a lovely morning spent together, supporting a cause that touches so many lives. Together, we can continue to spread awareness, show support, and remind those affected by cancer that they are never alone. 💕🎗️

This weekend, we made beautiful memories at a church that is very dear to our hearts. ❤️

Our dear Mariazinha had booked us to perform at their very first Festa. Sadly, God called her home to join the Lord, her beautiful memory continues to live on in our hearts. 🙏❤️

The Mount Carmel Shrine Benoni is growing beautifully, this year marks 10 wonderful years of spreading the word of the Lord. What a lovely event it was!

A heartfelt thank you to Fr. Ryan, Anabel, and the entire team for your warm hospitality. And, of course, a special thank you to Maria and Joe for the delicious cake for the occasion! 🎂❤️

A huge appreciation to Hugo and the team at RTP Mundo for showcasing how the Sousa family continues to keep the Portuguese spirit alive through the Witbank/eMalahleni Portuguese Club.
Through Hora de Portugal, the world was given the opportunity to see how proudly the Portuguese community in South Africa continues to preserve and promote our rich culture, traditions, and heritage.
We, the Portuguese Dancing Society Johannesburg, were truly honoured to be part of this special showcase. It is always a privilege to represent our community through music, dance, and tradition.
Together, we continue to keep our Portuguese heritage alive for future generations. 🇵🇹❤️🇿🇦
