30 Years. Thousands of Stories. One Movement.

For three decades, DITSELA has been a space for learning, growth, solidarity, and lifelong connections. Along the way, thousands of workers, activists, educators and leaders have shared experiences, built friendships, and created memories that continue to inspire us today.

As we prepare to celebrate our 30th Anniversary in November 2026, we're inviting everyone who has been part of DITSELA over the years to be part of the journey.

Do you have a favourite DITSELA memory? A funny story from a programme? A photo, video, or reflection you'd like to share?

Help us tell the story of DITSELA through the voices of the people who made it what it is.

Send us your memories and be part of our road to 30 years of educating, engaging and empowering.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, love, and sacrifice of mothers everywhere; especially the women who continue to nurture families, communities, workplaces, and movements with care and determination.

DITSELA honours and appreciates all mothers and mother figures for the invaluable role they play in shaping a more caring and just society.

Your dedication, compassion, and unwavering support do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do, today and every day.

Wishing all mothers a beautiful, peaceful, and joyful Mother's Day.

May Day is not a celebration; it is a reminder.
A reminder that every gain won by workers was fought for through struggle, sacrifice, and solidarity.

From the factory floor to the streets, workers have always been at the forefront of challenging injustice, confronting exploitation, and demanding dignity. And today, that struggle continues.

In the face of inequality, unemployment, and attacks on workers’ rights, we are called not only to remember; but to organise, educate, and mobilise.

For 30 years, DITSELA has stood within this tradition of struggle, advancing worker education as a tool for building working-class power and deepening democracy.

No rights were given. Everything was won.
And what was won must be defended.

✊🏾 Forward in the struggle. Amandla!

🇿🇦 Freedom Day 2026

As South Africa marks 32 years since the first democratic elections, this year’s Freedom Day theme; Freedom and the Rule of Law: Thirty Years of Democratic Citizenship; invites reflection on the gains of democracy and the responsibility to deepen and defend it.

This theme resonates powerfully as DITSELA also celebrates 30 years of worker education, marking three decades of building democratic participation, advancing worker education, and strengthening trade union organisation.

The struggle for freedom did not end in 1994. It continues in the daily work of defending rights, advancing justice, and building active democratic citizenship. For 30 years, DITSELA has been part of that ongoing struggle.

32 years of freedom. 30 years of democratic citizenship. 30 years of worker education. One shared commitment to justice, solidarity and worker power. ✊🏾

As Module 2 comes to a close, we reflect on a powerful few days of learning, engagement, and collective growth.

Comrades have been sharpening their understanding of trade union organisation; building the knowledge and tools needed to strengthen worker structures on the ground.

From here, participants will move into the assessment phase, completing their work online before returning for the next contact session.

📚 Up next: Module 3: Fundamentals of Labour Law for Trade Unions

The journey continues… building informed, confident, and effective trade unionists.
