“It’s sad to see how smoking has been normalised. You walk into school restrooms and the smell of w**d or v**es just lingers it’s become part of daily life. Many say it helps them cope, especially during exam season.”

🎙️ These are the words of one of Project’s Junior Advocates, sharing the reality young people face where stress, anxiety, and influence collide. ***coexposed ゚

“Smoking has become a trend in my school made popular by social media influencers who make it look cool.”

These are the words of one of Project’s Junior Advocates, who shared how online influence is shaping harmful habits among young people.

What looks like a “trend” is actually a trap one designed by the to***co industry and amplified through influencers and online culture.

Let’s make speaking up the new trend.
Support the To***co Control Bill and protect the next generation from being misled.

“The youth are being blinded by the to***co industry drawn in by colourful packaging, trendy designs, and lies about ‘choice’. But behind every sleek v**e or flavoured pack lies addiction, disease, and loss.”

In our latest , Ingrid Bame from the National Council Against Smoking shared a powerful message: the way to***co products are marketed is not accidental. It’s manipulation targeting our youth.

It’s time to expose the truth and protect the next generation.

“Public health isn’t just about hospitals and doctors — it’s about creating the conditions for everyone to thrive.”
‘s Schools in Conversation, Prof. Lekan Ayo-Yusuf, Head of the School of Public Health at the University of Pretoria, reminded us that true public health is built through policy and prevention, not just treatment.

He praised the Junior Advocacy Project for giving youth a platform to lead because the real PhDs are those young voices living the realities policymakers often only study.

Prof. Lekan shared how policy gaps like exposure to second-hand smoke can limit people’s ability to live healthy, thriving lives. When someone smokes in public, it forces others to cope instead of thrive.
That’s why strong to***co control laws are essential.

The To***co Control Bill isn’t just about smoking it’s about protecting public health, promoting equality, and ensuring everyone can breathe clean, safe air.

At the Germiston Fun Day, community members came together for sport, learning, and advocacy because knowledge is the first step toward protection.

It hurts to see friends hooked on v**es… but I can’t stay silent.” — Nicole Ngota, Psychology Student
At Rosebank College, Nicole has seen how peer pressure, upbringing, and environment influence young people to try v**es and ho**ah pipes. She encourages her friends to attend awareness sessions hosted by the college on the harms of to***co and ni****ne, wishing these lessons had come earlier in school.

Nicole believes education and early intervention are key to preventing youth from picking up smoking and va**ng. She proudly says NO to to***co, NO to smoking, and supports the To***co Control Bill, because stronger laws can protect countless lives.

Knowledge + action = protection. Let’s stand with youth like Nicole and support policies that keep communities smoke-free.
