Our Story
Helping With Kindness (HWK) is a NPO committed to the support and growth of the impoverished people in Buccleuch, Sunninghill and Midrand areas in Johannesburg. This organisation was founded by 3 friends, sharing similar values, looking to make a positive difference in response to the serious plight of those less fortunate by providing food, clothing, blankets, other practical assistance and basic kindness to women, men and children in need.
Started at the beginning of 2019, with what was a once off gesture with 6 sandwiches, has now grown to be an official weekly initiative that now feeds 150+ people a week with not merely a meal but water and other items that have been raised with the assistance of our communities. Additionally, HWK has inspired others in other cities to start helping with kindness which is tremendous as together we can make someones’ life better, even if it is just a meal.
HWK’s visionary journey is to create a Center that offers food and provide development capabilities to those in need.
HWK believes that working together with the less fortunate by empowering them with knowledge, skills and responsibility in support of their vision is paramount to making a significant positive difference and as a wise person once said, “...leave this world a little better than we found it”.
