250 quizzes and still connecting! 🎓💥
What began as a way to stay connected during lockdown has become a lasting Rotary tradition. The Rotary Club of Rosebank held its first online quiz on 21 May 2020 with the Rotary Club of Kyalami. We have now celebrated our 250th quiz.
Across those 250 evenings, members from 25 South African clubs and 19 clubs in 13 other countries have taken part. Together, we have tackled around 10,000 questions. COVID brought a temporary “new normal”, but the quizzes gave us something worth keeping: a fun, regular way to build friendships across clubs and borders. Those connections have carried beyond the screen. A member of the Lilongwe club, who had joined us for several quizzes, visited our club a few months ago.
Morningside, Gaborone, Rosebank and Kyalami joined us for the milestone quiz. Kyalami led the club averages with 35 points, followed by Rosebank on 29, Gaborone on 28.6 and Morningside on 24. Two Kyalami members also achieved the evening’s highest individual scores: 44.5 and 42.5 out of 48.
Our thanks go to the quizmasters who have kept the questions coming, and to everyone who has joined us over the years. The answers may be forgotten by the next morning, but the friendships have lasted.
