Topsy is a non-profit organization with the belief that all children deserve the opportunity to thrive, regardless of where they come from. We work to break the cycle of poverty and empower rural communities in Mpumalanga South Africa through education, food security, health services and emotional support to women and children. It’s our vision to see children from disadvantaged rural communities,

grow into successful confident adults. It’s our mission to provide disadvantaged rural communities with the support and tools needed to raise happy, healthy and capable children.

As part of our Mandela Day activities, Topsy Foundation had the privilege of spending time with Gogo Khathazile, who recently celebrated her 94th birthday.

For the past few years, Gogo has been a beneficiary of our gardening programme, receiving seeds to help her grow her own food. During our visit to Ridge View, Mpumalanga, we noticed that her garden was no longer thriving. Together, we rolled up our sleeves, prepared the soil, replanted fresh vegetables, and gave her garden a fresh start.

Now, all that's left is for Gogo to continue doing what she enjoys most—watering and caring for her garden each day.

This Mandela Day reminded us that small acts of service can restore hope, dignity, and independence. Here's to growing stronger communities, one garden at a time. 💚

Play is more than fun — it’s how children learn, imagine, grow, and make sense of the world.

Today, we celebrate the power of play and the joy, creativity, and confidence it brings to childhood 💙

At Topsy Foundation, our Toy Library helps make play possible by giving children access to toys and learning materials that spark imagination, support development, and turn everyday moments into opportunities to learn.

❄️ WRAP SOMEONE IN WARMTH THIS WINTER 🧣🩵

Winter is here, and together we can make a difference. 🫶🏾 mallofthesouth is hosting a Blanket Drive to help those in need, and if enough blankets are collected, donations will also support NGOs like Topsy Foundation and others in our communities.

If you’re able to, please consider donating a blanket and helping keep someone warm this winter. Every act of kindness matters. 🤍

A beautiful day of connection and community 🌱

We recently welcomed the ranyaka_community team as they visited the sites where Topsy Foundation is making an impact, from the ECD centres we support, to home visits, early stimulation, and thriving household gardens.

One of the highlights of the day was the warm welcome at Mr and Mrs Manzini’s home. They proudly shared fresh tomatoes grown from seeds provided through Topsy, along with home-reared chickens from the small business they have built to support their family.

Along the journey, we also enjoyed fresh tomatoes and peaches picked straight from the trees at Sechaba Isizwe Day Care and Preschool before travelling on to Ridgeview. These moments of generosity and pride brought the impact of community support to life.

Moments like these remind us that when communities are supported with the right tools, growth happens not only in gardens, but also in livelihoods, confidence, and hope.

It was truly a day filled with pride, partnership, and possibility.
