WoMin African Alliance

WoMin African Alliance We are a Pan African ecofeminist alliance, based in 17 countries across the continent.

Women along with their communities, organisations and movements across Africa do not stand by meekly as extractives corporations and governments try to take their land and natural resources. These women fiercely defend their right to livelihoods, health and well-being, freedom from violence, and community life. At WoMin we support their movement building efforts and amplify their voices and stories of inspirational organising and action.

📣📰 COMIC BOOK LAUNCH - Voices against Extractivism: Sheroes for Change

Voices Against Extractivism: Sheroes for Change marks WoMin’s first foray into comic book storytelling! Drawing inspiration from WoMin’s analytical paper Extractivism and Violence against Women, this comic book portrays the multi-layered violence faced by women and their community as a direct result of large-scale mining and extractivism 🪵⚒️💲🚜

At the heart of this tale is African women’s resilience and the strength of local, community and Pan African organising. The characters highlight the role women play in confronting climate and other crises, and resisting injustice while building alternatives from the ground up. Even as violence is a theme in this comic book, it is a story of healing, solidarity, hope, self and collective care 🌍✊🏾🗣
