Honoring an Icon on His 62nd Birthday!

Today marks a deeply significant moment for our nation. The Fearless Azanian Lawyers Association proudly salutes the Department of Education on a monumental milestone: the official handover of the Lucky Dube Secondary School of Performing Arts. We deeply commend this progressive move to recognize the arts and purposefully diversify our educational streams!

What makes this occasion truly poetic is that today, August 3rd, our legendary South African Reggae icon, Lucky Dube, would have celebrated his 62nd birthday. Choosing to officially open and name this institution after him on this exact day is a profound and fitting tribute. While his tragic passing left a deep scar on Azanian soil, his timeless message of peace, love, and humanity will now live on, echoing through these very halls and inspiring the next generation of creatives.

FALA at G-A-B Indaba 2026:

Driving the Global South Agenda Through Law, Partnership, and Ubuntu

This Mandela Day, 18 July 2026, the Fearless Azanian Lawyers Association (FALA) as represented by its directors per Adv. keamogetwe Molaudi and Mr Molatelo Sebola, actively participated in the high level G-A-B (Global South Africa BRICS) Indaba, hosted as a flagship initiative by the League of Pros. Under the banner of "LoP's Equi-Diplomacy: Steering and Uniting the Global South Through Uncertainties," this strategic engagement brought together international delegates, diplomats, and institutions to chart a unified trajectory for developing nations.

For FALA, this engagement exemplified the power of collaboration and strategic partnership. True socio-economic transformation in the Global South cannot be achieved in isolation; it requires an active, intentional convergence of law, commerce, and grassroots advocacy.

Our Contribution:

The Decolonization of Legal Frameworks:

During the Indaba, FALA highlighted its core contribution to the Global South agenda. We unpacked how grassroots legal movements are vital to dismantling colonial-inherited gatekeeping, mainstreaming indigenous jurisprudence, and building domestic self-reliance. True sovereignty for African nations means developing robust legal and digital frameworks, ranging from equitable economic trade policies to protecting our digital and knowledge economies ensuring that our people transition from mere economic survival to active, strategic ownership.

On Immigration, Sovereignty, and Human Rights:

A critical highlight of the Societal Diplomacy Plenary Session, involved pressing discussions around immigration laws, raised poignantly by the leadership of March on March.

In addressing these complex, transnational challenges, FALA's stance is as follows:

One of the core pillars of Ubuntu is deep, mutual respect. As Azanians, we respect and recognize each nation's sovereign territory, self-determination, and the rule of law. Therefore, we advocate that immigration and territorial laws must be firmly and consistently enforced. However, this enforcement must never occur in a vacuum; it must always be executed in strict compliance with fundamental human rights, constitutional standards, and the humanizing spirit of Ubuntu.

Moving Forward with Purpose:

FALA remains fiercely committed to collaborating with aligned global South organizations to build a legal ecosystem that is transforming, protective, and just for all.

Celebrating Icons: The LoP Hall of Fame Ceremony

A deeply moving highlight of the Indaba was the LoP Hall of Fame Ceremony, managed by the Council of Luminaries. FALA extends its warmest congratulations to the esteemed award recipients who were honored for their monumental impact and leadership.
