Today we honour the young people who fought for a better tomorrow. The youth of 1976 died with hope, faith and courage. They fought for access and equality.

While our education system is still struggling to realise the efforts of the youth of 1976, the system still forces our hand in sending our kids to Model C schools far from home, for a so called better schooling system, and while we still fight for the decolonisation of the education system and the legal system for our people.

Congratulations to a daughter of the Azanian soil and one of the directors of FALA Keamogetswe Molaudi on her admission as an Advocate of the High Court! 🥂

​Yesterday at the PTA High Court, the "FALA effect" was on full display. With a FALA-led legal team on record per Adv. Christinah Noko-Molaudi and Muvhumbi Sitsula we proved once again that we are more than an association, we are a family dedicated to the upward mobility of our practitioners.

​We don't just talk about transformation; we practice it by supporting our own at every milestone.

🚨 STATEMENT: FALA CONDEMNS THE BRUTAL ASSASSINATION OF A FEMALE LAWYER IN JOHANNESBURG CBD 🚨

​The Fearless Azanian Lawyers Association (FALA) is deeply outraged by the execution-style killing of a 35-year-old female legal practitioner in broad daylight near the CCMA in Johannesburg today.

​This is not an isolated incident. The legal profession in South Africa is under siege. When those who defend the law are gunned down in our streets, the very foundation of our justice system and the rule of law is threatened. We cannot allow this climate of fear and intimidation to continue.

​We are urgently calling on the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Minister of Police, and the NPA to launch a swift, transparent investigation and to implement robust security measures to protect officers of the court.

​Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues. We stand with you, and we will not rest until justice is served.

Justice is a reflection.

To champion the rights of others, the advocate must stand on firm ground. At FALA, we celebrate the legal practitioners, the activists, and the community leaders who wake up every day to fight for the marginalized.

We pause today in solemn remembrance of March 21, 1960. We honor the sixty-nine brave souls in Sharpeville who stood tall against the indignity of the pass laws and paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we exercise today. Their sacrifice is the ink in our Constitution and the fire in our pursuit of justice. We do not just carry their memory; we carry their cause into every courtroom and every community we serve.

But we also pause to remember:

The Bill of Rights is not a one-way street. Lawyers are humans first. Those who serve the law are also entitled to the protection of the law, the right to dignity, the right to mental well-being, and the right to safety.

We cannot pour from an empty cup, and we cannot defend freedoms if our own are compromised.

Today, we honor the people. And today, we honor the people who protect the people. 🇿🇦
