Saturday was a remarkable day, we celebrated life and my birthday month with the children of The Golden Ark Center, which we as Sinayo and Babalwa Ngonyama Foundation are supporting. The day was filled with festivities, music, dancing and academic awards.

Last year this time, Sinayo and BN Foundation decided to enable excellence by launching the resource center and library at Golden Ark Care Center. One of the many conversations I had this weekend was about how the resource center and library has attracted a lot of attention, not just from the children at our Golden Ark Center, but from other children in greater Soweto. This resource center has brought together many people from diverse backgrounds and financial means, it has brought unity and collaboration among the children, indeed education does unify!

I wish to thank all of those who played a role in supporting this initiative. 📚🤗🫶

As a woman in leadership and in business, on a daily basis, I prioritise living mine and the Sinayo values of integrity, inclusivity, excellence and innovation. Each time I stand up for myself, live true to my values as a woman in business, each time I stand up in a boardroom full of men, sometimes being alone as a woman, I am reminded of Maya Angelou’s quote “I come as One, I stand as Ten Thousand” this quote reminds that I’m not alone, it reminds me that more than 20 000 women in 1956 fought for me to be here, It reminds of my duty and obligation to lift other women as I rise. It reminds of where I come from and how far I still have to go, it’s a solid reminder of who I am today. I wish my beautiful South African sisters, an empowered Women’s Day, with Love from me – Babalwa Ngonyama
