🌱 A Big Thank You to Evergreen Turf!

On behalf of the Turf Grass Managers Association (TGMA) Gauteng, we'd like to extend our sincere thanks to Evergreen Turf for inviting our members to attend the 2026 Evergreen Turf Show.

The event was an outstanding showcase of innovation, knowledge sharing and collaboration within the turf industry. From insightful presentations and engaging panel discussions to valuable networking opportunities, the day reinforced the importance of continually investing in the future of turf management.

A special thank you to the excellent line-up of speakers, including Lourensa Eckard, Japie Mulder, and the team from Steyn City, Pierre van Vuuren and Jerry Steyn, who shared fascinating insights into hosting the LIV Golf tournament and the role exceptional turf management plays in delivering world-class sporting events.

Thank you as well to everyone at Evergreen Turf for the warm hospitality and for creating a platform where industry professionals can come together, exchange ideas and continue raising the standard of our profession.

Another fantastic TGMA Gauteng Managers Meeting in the books!

A big thank you to The Bryanston Country Club for hosting our latest TGMA Gauteng Managers Meeting, and to our meeting sponsors John Collier Governance and Environmental Compliance Research and TMI - Irrigation Solutions for their valued support and incredibly beneficial educational sessions.

The one highlight of the day was an incredibly insightful tour led by Fanie Bester, Bryanston’s Greenkeeper, who took the group through the greens project currently underway at the club. It was a brilliant opportunity to see the work behind the scenes, understand the thinking and planning involved, and gain practical insight into a project of this scale.

These meetings continue to create real value for our turf professionals - bringing people together to share knowledge, ask questions, learn from one another and strengthen the turf management community in Gauteng.

Thank you again to Bryanston Country Club, John Collier, Turf Manzi Irrigation, Fanie and everyone who attended.

Ready to level up your team’s turf and landscape capability - and stay fully legal.

PCO Programme - Landscaping (NQF Level 4)

The PCO/Landscape programme equips pest control operators with practical skills in w**d control and the management of plant pests & diseases across commercial, industrial and “Working for Water” environments. The course aligns with Agriseta Unit Standards (116301, 116419, 116429 & 116520) and is available in-person (Johannesburg) or via e-learning.

Get your PCO licence - simple pathway

If you already work under a licensed PCO: Complete the landscaping programme → Register with the Department of Agriculture. Renewals are handled directly with the Department.

If you don’t: Complete the PCO programme → Work under a registered PCO/Mentor from PMA for 6 months (mentorship fee listed) → Register with the Department of Agriculture.

Legal: registration and renewals are statutory requirements, non-compliance risks heavy fines.

Safety & environment: licensed training ensures correct pesticide handling, application and disposal to protect staff, members and the environment.

It was lovely having the students from the African Turf Academy join us for the meeting.
