Layla is Venturing into Excellence’s friendly mascot. She’s a reminder that leadership, empowerment, innovation, and resilience can be fun too. With her VIE shirt and high paw, she tells every learner: _“You’re PAWSOME! Keep going, you’re doing amazing!”_

What Layla stands for:
1. LEADERSHIP - She leads with kindness
2. EMPOWERMENT- She reminds youth to believe in themselves
3. INNOVATION - She brings fresh energy to VIE programs
4. RESILIENCE - She never stops wagging toward her dreams, just like we ask youth to never give up

*Community Engagement: Vosloorus Collaboration Meeting*

Venturing into Excellence recently convened with key community cultural leaders in Vosloorus for a strategic engagement session. The purpose of the meeting was twofold: to express sincere appreciation to our collaborators, and to formally present VIE’s “Youth off the streets into opportunities” project.

The meeting brought together VIE leadership including CEO Marlene Schwark and PA Asiphe Mkhize, alongside facilitators and partners such as Saxophonist Chris Mdlalose, Level Up Lounge Hostess Lindiwe Mdlalose, and Ginie Baboo.

This gathering underscores VIE’s commitment to community-driven development. By aligning with local leaders and cultural custodians, we ensure our youth empowerment programs are rooted in context, culture, and shared vision. The Vosloorus engagement marks another step toward transforming vulnerable youth pathways into sustainable opportunities.
