The Hope Of Africa Foundation is a registered NGO in South Africa with the registration number 2019/613914/08. The Hope of Africa Foundation strives to alleviate poverty, hunger and illiteracy without regard to color, race or creed and to provide aid in a compassionate and dignified manner, giving people the confidence to participate in their own development and to secure their own future without the need for continuing external assistance is the ultimate goal.
The Hope Of Africa Foundation is implementing innovative food solutions all over Africa. Children are often hit hardest by food shortages, so we have feeding programmes to fight malnutrition and prevent future health problems. We have started food banks in South Africa and Kenya, we intend to spread this initiative all across Africa however we need your support to help even more people in need
Inspired by our Islamic faith and guided by our values, we envisage a world where communities are empowered, social obligations are fulfilled and people respond as one to the suffering of others.
Since we received our first donation in 2019, we have helped thousands of the Africa’s poorest and most vulnerable people. Inspired by the Islamic faith and guided by our values, we believe that people with wealth have a duty to those less fortunate – regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief.
Our projects provide poor people with access to vital services. We protect communities from disasters and deliver life-saving emergency aid. We provide lasting routes out of poverty, and empower vulnerable people to transform their lives and their communities
WHY SUPPORT US
We are clear in our responsibility for every penny entrusted to us, and believe in a spiritual and moral obligation to accountability. Amongst the leaders in the humanitarian sector, we protect and enhance our high quality programmes, investing in delivering real results for the world’s most vulnerable people, whilst securing value-for-money.
We continue to be accountable for our financial transparency – and invest in developing ever-more rigorous accountability and governance systems that maximize the benefits we deliver with the contributions of our donors.
The Hope Of Africa Foundation works hard to further strengthen the governance that allows us to operate effectively and efficiently. Our size and scale means that we are able to make the most of funding to achieve the maximum positive impact in transforming lives around the world.
WHAT WE DO
The Hope of Africa Foundation works with communities to strengthen their resilience to disasters, and we provide vital emergency aid when disasters occur.
We help vulnerable people to access basic services, including education, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare. We provide lasting routes out of poverty through our sustainable livelihoods schemes, and our integrated approach to development is transforming communities worldwide. We try tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the world’s most vulnerable people have a strong voice and real influence in both our programmes and advocacy.
The Hope Of Africa Foundation endeavors to:
· Reduce the impact of conflicts and disasters
· Empower communities
· Mobilize people and funds
· Strengthen our Islamic Relief family
HEALTHCARE
Good health is about more than just medicine and treatment; it includes all areas of life – that’s why we intend on training communities on diet and health practices, and provide school meals to prevent child malnutrition.
Once people have become ill however, what they need is healthcare – and this is often severely lacking in poor African countries. That’s why Hope of Africa Foundation intends on supplying existing centers with life-saving medicines and clinical equipment, and provide ambulances in conflict zones to reach the most urgent cases of injury and illness.
When crisis hits a country, Hope of Africa Foundation would provide humanitarian aid that often includes emergency health care and distribution of clean water to prevent illness. Our teams often stay to implement long-term development projects, such as rebuilding destroyed water and sanitation facilities, or constructing new facilities for populations lacking them. Projects like these reduce illness rates and save lives.
Critically, we look at more than just physical health: when people have suffered losses and witnessed scenes of violence and bloodshed due to conflict, we intend to provide psychosocial care in the form of therapy and counselling to help traumatized patients live a happier life.
WATER
Water is the key to all life. In fact, water is so essential that we can only survive for around three days without it. What’s more, dirty, contaminated water spreads disease with fatal results.
Hope of Africa Foundation believes in giving water for life. When we build a water system, we want to ensure communities are left with easy access to a sustainable source of clean water for years to come. In many areas of rural Africa, unpredictable weather leads to severe drought. With less water to drink and irrigate crops, harvests fail and families starve. With no extra income, impoverished families cannot fulfil their basic needs nor buy simple essential equipment to earn a living and lift themselves out of poverty. Committed to the Provision of Water:
Water is a precious and scarce resource and one evermore affected by global climate change.
Without essential water aid, millions of people in Africa remain trapped in this brutal cycle of poverty. Even worse, as famine hits the most vulnerable communities across the globe, many people die.
By supporting our water for life projects, you’re helping families and entire communities to maintain their livelihoods and stay happy, healthy and hunger-free over both the short and long-term. You’re transforming and saving lives across Africa.
We are integrally involved with borehole drilling operations, together with the development of such sites at schools, clinics and other central community points. Our team is responsible for the sighting, drilling, testing, developing and monitoring all our borehole sites in the most needy areas on a continuous basis.
EDUCATION
That’s why The Hope of Africa Foundation is committed to breaking this cycle of poverty. We want to ensure that all children receive at least primary education, and that adults are taught to read and write too.
A farmer who can read can make sure nobody takes advantage of him, and sell his crops at a higher price. A girl who is educated will marry later and have fewer children, ensuring that they can afford to bring them up safely, educate them and keep them healthy. She will also be able to work and earn a living, crucial in areas where one wage is not enough to support a family.
The Hope of Africa Foundation intends to build and rehabilitate schools, stocking and equipping them with everything they need to provide quality teaching. We intend on training teachers so that they give the best education possible, and support schools with milk and nutritional meals, to ensure that children are healthy enough to concentrate and learn. We also intend to work with adults, teaching them in ways that work best for their situation and culture.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, told us that “the best gift a father can provide for their child is an education” (At-Tirmidhi).
PROMOTING SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT
The under-development of many historically disadvantaged communities is regarded as a massive socio-economic problem. Recognizing this, we intend to develop a series of programs designed to promote the empowerment and dignity of our young people, including:
· The provision of a range of school supplies for young learners;
· Life skills training interventions and workshops; and
· Skills development initiatives.
FEEDING
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
“One is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbor goes hungry.” (Bukhari)
The Hope Of Africa Foundation is implementing innovative food solutions all over Africa. Children are often hit hardest by food shortages, so we have feeding programmes to fight malnutrition and prevent future health problems. We have started food banks in South Africa and Kenya, we intend to spread this initiative all across Africa however we need your support to help even more people in need.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) quoted Allah as saying:
“O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not.” (The person) will respond: “O Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds?” (Allah) will then say: “Did you not know that My (hungry servant) asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found (the reward for doing so) with Me?” Hadith Qudsi 18
Allah has promised a reward for feeding His hungry servants, so gather rewards by donating generously to the poor and hungry.
A Passion for Hunger Alleviation: Hunger is a universal problem.
In recognition of this, we intend to distribute in excess of 100 000 food parcels annually, prepare and serve hot meals at our own centers, whilst also supporting existing feeding schemes through the provision of thousands of meals on a daily basis.
