From 14 May, motorists and residents across Joburg will be able to report problems on the roads and drainage using a new, easy to use application.
The Find & Fix mobile application to be launched by the Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) will enable "the public to report potholes, faulty traffic signals, storm water drains, manhole covers, and other infrastructure issues related to JRA", says Skhumbuzo Macozoma, MD of JRA.

Once launched, the app will be free and easy to use and can be downloaded for most mobile Operating System platforms such as Windows Mobile, Android and iOS for Apple. Issues can thus be reported with just a few clicks.

"The app is the first of its kind to be launched in the Southern Hemisphere; Middle East, Asia, and Africa regions. Another African first for Joburg," says Macozoma.

In demonstrating to Joburg citizens it is serious about service delivery and now being more accessible than ever before, the is launching its for testing by citizens. The official launch is set for 14 May 2014 once testing on all platforms is finalised.

explaining, "the Find & Fix app

According to Macozoma, the app will feature an accurate location with GPS co-ordinates and make it easy to provide photo evidence, which improves the JRA's assessment of what is required to fix the fault, thereby enhancing efficiency and increasing productivity.

"We call on citizens to join in testing this exciting and innovative application," Macozoma comments, "Residents can download the beta testing app for Microsoft platforms from 25 April, Android phones on 2 May and iOS systems on 9 May."

The launch of this testing phase for the mobile app is part of the JRA service delivery drive called the "just tell us" campaign, which is an initiative to ensure that the JRA is more accessible to citizens and road users in the City. The "just tell us" campaign also seeks to stimulate the City's "Active Citizentry" priority focus which promotes active involvement of citizens in the City's service delivery activities.

Macozoma says, "JRA is taking its obligations very seriously, and we urge the community to be actively engaged, and report issues by using available contact points."

The JRA has implemented an email address, as well as twitter and Facebook sites to allow residents to interact on platforms convenient to them. JRA is also launching the service delivery mailbox for service frustrations that have not been resolved the first time or as promised.

Macozoma says, "JRA is committed to become a centre of engineering excellence with service delivery efficiencies and satisfied customers."

The JRA encourages residents to report all road and storm water related issues, including potholes to 0860 562 874/ [email protected] / twitter ./ and the new JRA Find&Fix app

🚨 URGENT TRAFFIC ALERT: N12 Fatality & Fire 🚨
Report by Live Traffic NPC
Update: 19:25 | 19 April 2026
Note: This incident was first reported after 03:00 this morning.

Location: N12 (Both Directions) before Comaro Road.

Status: TOTAL ROAD CLOSURE
The N12 remains completely shut down following a serious multi-vehicle crash and gas tanker fire. Emergency services continue to manage a high-risk scene involving gas decanting and fire suppression.

🛠️ Scene Operations & Recovery
Crews have been working for over 16 hours, and the situation remains critical:
* Recovery Efforts: The remains of the deceased motorist have not yet been recovered due to the ongoing hazard.

* Hazmat Situation: The decanting of gas from the truck is currently in progress.

* Fire Control: Firefighters are containing the blaze at low pressure using a flare stack and fire hoses.

* Closures: 4 road closure points remain in effect.

🛣️ Current Diversions>>>
* Westbound (WB): Traffic is being diverted at the Reading Interchange.
* Eastbound (EB): Traffic is being diverted at the Comaro Road Off-Ramp.

⚠️ Monday Travel Warning
The highway is likely to remain closed until tomorrow.
* Plan Ahead: Expect significant disruptions to your Monday morning commute.
* Avoid the Area: Please avoid the N12 at Comaro Road and use alternative routes such as the M1 or M2.

TRAFFIC ALERT: HEARTBREAKING SCENE ON THE N12
Report Date: Sunday, 19 April 2026 | Time: 17h00
Source: LiveTraffic NPC & JMPD

The Current Situation
What began as a quiet Sunday morning has turned into a tragedy that has gripped the south of Johannesburg. For over 14 hours, emergency responders have stood by, helpless against a towering inferno on the N12 West at Comaro Road.
The incident, which occurred just after 03h00, involved a small passenger vehicle crashing into the rear of a gas tanker. Despite the heroic efforts of the truck driver to douse the flames with a handheld extinguisher, the fire escalated beyond control within seconds.

The Somber Reality: We must report with heavy hearts that the driver of the light motor vehicle remains entrapped within the wreckage. Due to the intensity of the gas-fed fire, recovery teams have been unable to reach the scene. The fire must be allowed to burn out naturally to prevent a catastrophic BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding V***r Explosion).

Road Status & Estimated Reopening
The N12 remains completely closed in both directions between the Reading Interchange and Kliprivier Drive.
* Westbound (Towards Soweto): Closed.
* Eastbound (Towards Alberton): Closed.
* Status: The gas is still venting and burning. It is increasingly unlikely that the highway will reopen tonight, as the structure of the road surface and the overhead gantries must be inspected for heat damage once the scene is cooled.

Mandatory Diversions
Law enforcement is strictly enforcing the following bypasses. Please expect heavy congestion on these secondary roads as the sun sets:
| Route Direction | Diversion Point | Suggested Alternative | N12 Westbound | R59 Reading Interchange |

Use M1 North/South via Booysens |
| N12 Eastbound | Kliprivier Drive | Use R59 through Alberton |
| Local Traffic | Comaro Off-ramps | Use Kliprivier Drive or Orpen Road |

A Final Note
Our thoughts are with the family of the motorist involved in this horrific accident, and with the first responders who have had to witness this tragedy throughout the day.

Please drive with extreme caution on the diversion routes.

The smoke remains thick in the Bassonia and Glenvista areas; keep your windows closed and headlights on.
