[MEDIA STATEMENT]
Our Views On The Ongoing Vigilantism Against Foreign Nationals In South Africa.

We do not support the daily marches that are targeting foreign nationals, their business and places of residents. This behavior is irrational, inflammatory and dangerous to human kind. It is a total human rights violation and reflects apartheid threads where blacks were subjected to produce proof of their identity. The issues of immigration must be dealt with by DHA officials and the police, not vigilante groups that are mobilizing ordinary civilians to participate in their call for destabilization of our economy, unrest and extortion.

We strongly condemn the action by these vigilante groups and call upon the South African Police Service to act upon anyone who threatens the peace and security of our country.

This senior police official in Evaton Police Station, south of Johannesburg is seen here assaulting a foreign national who is said to have brough a passport. The reasons for the assault are not known but that force was unnecessary. An investigation must be conducted and all citizens taken into confidence that no one is above the law, regardless of seniority or uniform. Duch behavior is irrational and frankly dangerous. We condemn in the strongest sense the brutal witnessed in this video. We call upon all law enforcement authorities to be human and exercise their strengths accordingly. The force used here is clearly disproportionate and unjustifiable. We will be observing what the end results will be and take action if needs be. He spoke once, and the rot and dirt flowed out. What a brave man!
South Africa needs to safeguard this individual in every possible way. With his tenure as Provincial Commissioner nearing its end, the South African Police Service should assign him as the head of crime intelligence. He is still physically capable and retains the essential qualities and skills to tackle crime nationwide. South African Police Service

We fully support the CRL Rights Commission's initiative to conduct consultations by the Section 22 committee on regulation of churches, which will provide much-needed assistance to government departments dealing with undocumented migrants who operate churches as part of their religious calling or seek refuge within them. This endeavor will also enable us to effectively address the pervasive issue of statelessness throughout the country. It is an unfortunate reality that numerous individuals suffer abuse within some churches, including physical, emotional, mental, and other forms of mistreatment. While not all pastors engage in abusive behavior, theft, or non-compliance with church registration or SARS requirements, it is crucial that the faith sector be subject to regulation and oversight to prevent such malpractices. We strongly condemn the statement made by the CRL Chairperson, which suggested that individuals claiming to communicate with God require psychiatric evaluation. Nevertheless, we fully endorse the regulation of religious practices and the promotion of accountability. CRL Rights Commission

Are you aware that 4 in 10 children in South Africa do not possess proper documentation? This affects children born to foreign parents, those unregistered at birth, and abandoned children. Join us in fighting the risk of statelessness. Every child deserves identity, dignity, and education.
