It is a sad Freedom day. Death didn't only robbed a family from a beautiful flower but a community. The sudden passing of one of our volunteers Bertha had left us with pain and sadness. We would like to share our heartfelt condolences with her husband, children, family. colleagues and friends. Bertha had such passion for her community and always wanted the best for those around her. She will be remembered for her jokes. In her presence everyone would have laughed. This is not only a lost to Masikhathalelaneni but the broader community of Kouga.Freedom day will always be remembered for what happened today in Kouga. It's not easy this morning to say R.I.P Bertha. You will be remembered. We pray to the Lord to bring comfort to everyone who cross roads with Bertha. The pictures that are framed was made by Bertha herself. She love to take pictures. Her words was always when she proposed a project. She always sad laughing" Let's go mad when we take pictures. Just for ourselves as life is so short. At least when one us are no more we can have some pictures that will bring comfort and good memories. " close quote. 🔥 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐚 𝐎𝐦𝐨𝐲𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐔𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 🔥

On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Kouga Municipality has been rocked by devastating wildfires, leaving residents in a state of heartbreak as homes and farms were destroyed within minutes.

Evacuations have been ordered in multiple areas as the fires continued to threaten local infrastructure and livelihoods. Our thoughts are with every family, farmer, and community member affected during this incredibly difficult time.

The Amandla Omoya Trust has pledged support to the brave firefighters working tirelessly by donating R50,000 toward essential relief items. This grant is being transacted through Masikhathalelaneni,one of the Trust's beneficiaries, who will supply firefighters with bottled water, burn ointments, energy drinks, chocolates, fruit, bandages, and other necessities.

We are deeply grateful to the Trustees of Amandla Omoya Trust for responding swiftly to this urgent plea for assistance. Their generosity will directly support those on the front line risking their lives to protect our communities.

So we continue to play our role as an organization to assist our firefighters in the very difficult time. We are thankful to Amandla Omoya Trust for the quick response to our call for assistance to our firefighters. We continue to do our part.Thanks to the Masikhathalelaneni team who works long hours to make sure that our firefighters are having what is most needed. Quality food from warm hearts who just do what we love to do.
