🌱 Help Us Grow Again – Invest in Lives Through Our Veggie Garden! 🌱

For the past 5+ years, Joshua Project Vegetable Garden has been a vital source of fresh veggies for our beneficiaries – vulnerable children attending our daily programs, many of whom were not in school. It also supported our local community and even supplied local restaurants.

Many dedicated volunteers have poured countless hours into our vegetable garden, nurturing it with care and hard work up until recently. But, unfortunately, in recent weeks, due to a lack of volunteers, we were unable to sustain the garden.

But there is hope! ❤ We’re incredibly grateful for the amazing volunteers now stepping up to revive the garden – and we need your help to make this happen.

🌅 Morning Program: Latest Developments 🌟
This season brings new beginnings, and we are excited to share what’s been happening in our Morning Program:
👧🏽👦🏾 Four new children have joined our morning group — though one will soon return to school, we are thankful for every step forward.
👭 Two sisters currently living on the streets attend Joshua Project daily. We’re actively working to reunite them with their family in Humansdorp. Their eagerness to learn and be part of the Project inspires us deeply.
🙏 We’ve been blessed with three amazing volunteers — two retired teachers and one education student. Their time, experience, and love for the children have made a profound impact. Truly a gift!
📚 Among the children, some face unique educational challenges:
• One has never been to school despite being a teenager
• One dropped out very early
• Two are awaiting placement in special needs schools
Thanks to our volunteers, we are now able to support each child at their own level with compassion and expertise. ❤

🌿 Adventure Awaits — and We Lived It! 🌿
The long-awaited outing finally happened, and it was absolutely worth the wait! From the moment the children hopped on the bus, excitement filled the air — and it didn’t stop until the very end of the day.
Thanks to Roaming Lions Adventures, the kids had an incredible outdoor experience at Kabeljouws Nature Reserve. They learned practical wilderness skills like how to use a kierie (walking stick), find direction using natural landmarks, measure distance by counting steps, and what to do in an emergency. Most importantly, they discovered the value of teamwork in the great outdoors!
There was plenty of time to connect with friends, explore nature, and soak in the beauty around them. To top it all off, enjoying lunch at one of their favorite spots was the cherry on top of a perfect day. 🍽🌳
What a memorable and enriching experience — here’s to many more outdoor adventures! 🚌🌞💚

How lovely to see how the team invests in the lives of the children by serving and blessing them with a “Spa Day”.
Teaching the children about self-care while spoiling them with a beautiful hair treatment and style.

This is a multi-purpose activity. One that teaches both our team the importance of acts of kindness, investing in a child’s life could be as easy as helping them with a new hair style for school.

It also teaches the children the importance of taking care of themselves and also how they too can do acts of kindness similar to this.

We also have opportunities for volunteers to invest in the lives of the children at Joshua Project by teaching them a skill. Contact us for more information.

With the assistance of our additional group of assistants through a Social Employment Fund employees, we could start our reading program, creating a space where children could develop a love for reading. Children are granted opportunities to be part of groups as well as time for individual reading. We know the importance of reading and we hope that many children will grow to love to read. Not only will it expand their general knowledge but being able to read and comprehend, will have such a positive and lasting benefit for their school career.

Did you know that by investing in Joshua Project, you directly invest a child's life? There are many ways to invest:
1) Invest in a child that is currently at school that might need stationary, uniforms or that attends our homework support program
2) Invest in our team and program. By investing in our program, we can offer more educational activities to better equip the children
3) Invest in our operational expenses. Our building does need to be maintained to ensure a safe place for the children to come.
