Institute for Timber Construction South Africa The ITC-SA's mandate is to create and maintain the engineered timber roof construction industry's highest standards.

The ITC-SA is the professional and legal home for everyone involved in designing, constructing, erecting, inspecting and specifying engineered timber roof structures. We promote and market the use of engineered timber roof structures and oversee our members' professional development. The membership includes the software suppliers, fabricators, erectors, inspectors, designers, and engineers involve

d in every roof truss design manufacturing, erection, inspection and certification for compliance with relevant South African National Standards (SANS). Examples of the standards are SANS 10400 and SANS 10082, where engineering rational designs are applicable. The ITC-SA is a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accredited Professional Body with professional members. We comply with the requirements of the National Qualifications Framework Act (NQF Act 67 of 2008 – as amended). The ITC-SA is also a Category B Recognised Voluntary Association in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000 (Act 46 of 2000). The institute and its members have a long history of promoting and self-regulating the prefabricated timber roof truss sector in South Africa. It is achieved by monitoring roof truss manufacturers' legal compliance and working with local authorities and the SA Bureau of Standards (SABS) to improve the standards continuously.
