Mentorship Hub

Tired of seeing children leave school, experiment with drugs and lose direction, Reverend Thembelani Vazi decided to offer them an alternative by starting the Izwi Mentorship Hub in Indwe, near Komani, in 2019.

Introducing the Izwi Litigation Desk

At Izwi Mentorship Hub, we have taken another important step in strengthening our community work by establishing an Izwi Litigation Desk.

But what does this mean in practice?

The Litigation Desk is a space where people who experience human rights violations, discrimination, exclusion, violence or other forms of injustice can bring their concerns and receive guidance on what steps they can take. We will listen to the person's story, help them understand their rights, document the matter where appropriate, identify the relevant legal or human-rights mechanisms, and, where necessary, refer or connect the matter to qualified attorneys, legal organisations or relevant institutions.

This is not about pretending that Izwi is a law firm. It is about making sure that a person who has been wronged does not have to face the system alone or remain silent simply because they do not know where to begin.

Our approach is rooted in human dignity, justice and the belief that every person is created in the image of God. Litigation is therefore not simply about going to court; it can also be a tool for challenging harmful practices, holding institutions accountable and creating change that protects others from experiencing the same injustice.

From our work in schools, churches and communities, we have learned that many people know that something is wrong but do not know where to report, who to approach, what evidence matters, or what their rights actually are.

The Izwi Litigation Desk seeks to help bridge that gap.

๐Ÿค–๐ŸŽฎ TANGIBLE IS COMING TO DODRECHT HIGH!

We are excited to announce a scheduled Tangible Game Activation for Grade 9 learners at Dodrecht High, planned for Tuesday, 25 August, from 12:00โ€“12:45.

This will be more than just a game. Tangible gives learners an opportunity to learn through play, develop problem-solving and coding skills, work as a team, and discover their creativity through robotics.

Following the activation, 20 learners will be selected, including learners from the Changemakers programme, to continue practising Tangible and represent the school as they prepare for the National Tangible Games Tournament.

We are currently awaiting final confirmation of the date and time from the school Principal. Once confirmed, the Grade 9 learners will be ready to learn, play and build the future! ๐Ÿš€

๐ŸŒฑ LEARNERS LEADING THE CHANGE | LUKHANYO HIGH SCHOOL ๐ŸŒ

Today, learners from Lukhanyo High School took the lead in an environmental protection campaign, demonstrating that young people can be powerful agents of change in their schools and communities.

The campaign forms part of the Masifunde Learner Development Programme, which empowers learners to become active changemakers and take responsibility for issues affecting their communities. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ

Through learner-led action, we are nurturing a generation that understands that protecting our environment is not only a responsibility of adultsโ€”it is a responsibility we all share.

๐Ÿ‘ Well done to the learners and educators of Lukhanyo High School for leading with purpose!

Human Rights Training - Indwe High & Ida High

As part of our ongoing work to empower young people to become active agents of positive change, Izwi Mentorship Hub previously conducted a Human Rights Training Workshop with learners from Indwe High School and Ida High School, culminating in the formation of Human Rights Clubs at both schools.

The training was designed to strengthen learnersโ€™ understanding of human rights, dignity, equality, non-discrimination, responsibilities and democratic participation, while equipping them with the confidence to identify and respond to human rights challenges affecting their schools and communities. Through the Human Rights Clubs, learners are encouraged to become peer educators and human rights champions, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, justice and accountability.

We believe that human rights education is most powerful when young people move from knowing their rights to actively protecting the rights and dignity of others.iZWI Mentorship Hub SA Human Rights Commission Africa Unite Legal Resources Centre

As we approach Women's Day, we celebrate a young Climate Change Ambassador from Indwe High School. She is among those who chosen to stand for the protection of our environment and to become a voice for a healthier, more sustainable future.

Her passion, courage, and commitment remind us that leadership is not determined by age but by the willingness to make a difference. Through her actions, she inspire others to care for creation, protect natural resources, and build stronger, more resilient communities.

As we celebrate Women's Month remember that your voice matters, your leadership is valuable, and your work is creating hope for future generations. Continue to lead with confidence, serve with compassion, and believe that you have the power to transform the worldโ€”one action at a time.

Keep shining, keep leading, and keep being a champion for climate justice and environmental stewardship. The future is better because of young people like you masifunde learner development Changemaker Network TUI Care Foundation Indwe High school

Today marked a special milestone as our eco-champions at Dordrecht High School conducted their first-ever Environmental Protection Campaign through peer education. They proudly prepared and presented informative slides, guiding their fellow learners on the importance of protecting our environment and the role each of us can play in addressing the effects of climate change.

This was more than just a presentation,it was the beginning of a movement led by young people who are committed to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future. We are incredibly proud of their confidence, teamwork, and passion for inspiring positive environmental action. masifunde learner development Changemaker Network TUI Care Foundation
