Burchell's Coucal Eco Trail

Come and join us this Saturday for a bird walk at Burchells Coucal Eco Trail. The walk is free for all Birdlife Port Natal members and R20 for non members. For those who wish to take up membership, forms will be available at the walk.

DIRECTIONS
Address 1 Deep Tank Road, Illovo

From the North Side (Durban side)
Take R603 Winklespruit/Umbumbulu turnoff
At the T-junction turn right
Go under the N2 bridge
Then follow the directions for everyone below

From the South Side (Lower South Coast side)
Take r603 Winklespruit/Umbumbulu turnoff
At the R603 turn left
Then follow the directions for everyone below

Directions for everyone
1) At the 3rd road turn left (the road after the Engen garage) - there is a sign for the llovo Business Park (Lower Illovo)
2) At the 3rd road turn left (the road after the big steel wheel). This is again marked with an Illovo Business Park sign
3) Go through the security - you will be asked to sign in - say you are going to the Nature Trail.
4) When through the gate drive straight to the grass parking area overlooking the river by the electric fence (about 70m).

'Black and White Delight'

African Sacred Ibis (Threskiornis aethiopicus) flying in the late afternoon light to roost for the night.

On most evenings when walking on the Burchells Coucal Eco Trail in Lower Illovo in KZN, South Africa, we have the privilage of seeing hundreds of these Ibis' flying over and gathering together to roost in the trees along the Illovo River.
