Naidene was delighted to collect warm items for 50 aged people in Phateni many of whom are bedridden. She also took bedsocks and mittens and scarves for creches in Richmond. A big thank you to the Piggly Wiggly donors xx

The Big Blanket Day is almost here!

Join us for the Piggly Wiggly Warm Embrace, a day to celebrate the incredible community that has poured so much love and warmth into every stitch this winter.

Bring your donated blankets on the day, or drop them off at Piggly Wiggly Coffee Shop or Sew What in Howick beforehand.

70 beautifully made, colourful beanies have been donated. Thank you to whoever you are for this gift to us.

Last Saturday was cold and quiet at Piggly so we abandoned our awareness appeal with damp feet but with a couple of people promising to help.👏🏻 We'll do it again, perhaps after Easter!

The Piggly Wiggly Warm Embrace Blanket Appeal is so excited to be partnering with Singakwenza this year 🤍

Singakwenza is a locally based charity that makes beautiful, practical educational toys for crèches and nursery schools — using everyday throw-away items we all have at home. Their focus is early childhood development, and that is exactly where the heart of our organisation lies: helping children.

Tomorrow at 10:30am, Mbali from Singakwenza will be at The Piggly Wiggly Coffee Shop sharing more about their incredible work they do.

Please come and join us to see what Singakwenza is all about and why we are so proud to partner with them this year and provide blankets to the kids so that this winter there is no cold floor naps or cold bodies in the classroom!

This Wednesday we would like to have a working party🥳 .

10am Piggly Wiggly Coffee Shop

We have 100+ beanies, lots of scarves and some mittens.

We'll match beanies with scarves and if we can let's add mittens too.

These will then be donated as warmth packs for adults and children.

But they will take a bit of time to sort 😉.
Many hands make light work so I'm hoping for some help on Wednesday morning 😊

We'll need mittens to add to the beanies and scarves but they are quick to make so I'm sure we'll manage to make some before winter.

If you have a favourite mitten pattern please share it.

Please remember that Wednesday week, 4th March at 10.30 we will host Mbali once again. She will talk about the wonderful work Singkawenza do for the less fortunate communities.

Anyone is welcome to join us so please bring along friends.

We hosted a raffle at Piggly Wiggly this weekend and raised R770, thanks to the generous prizes donated by our incredible sponsors!
