🐢 The recent weather has heavily impacted the Cape Peninsula, and many hatchlings are getting stranded along our beaches. Please keep an eye out and remember to NEVER put a stranded turtle back in the ocean, to rather call the Turtle Rescue Hotline on 083 300 1663 if you find one. 🐢

The infographic shows the amount of litter collected over December. In addition to our usual collection, we ran our holiday programme (ongoing) where we had one man at each end of Hout Bay beach for two hours collecting before the beachgoers arrived. This was sponsored by Sentinel Oceans Alliance and Mariners Wharf. In December (11th to the 31st), they collected 201 bags weighing approximately 402 kgs. | https://sentineloceanalliance.org | https://www.marinerswharf.co.za

Update from Friends of the Rivers of Hout Bay on litter collected last month... In total we have collected 54 256kgs since the start of the litter project in November 2021. With thanks to Gordon Bradley for managing this project so consistently and seamlessly. What an impact he has made! Our four men (Sibu, Thico, Vusi and Nelisa) plus a supervisor (Mark) work three times a week collecting litter. Visit https://www.friendsoftheriversofhoutbay.co.za/ for more details on our projects.
