The Hout Bay Youth Sailing Development Trust (HBYSDT), Registration Number (2016/150408/08), was founded to provide sailing development opportunities for the youth of the greater Hout Bay area. The HBYSDT is a registered, Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), managed under the directorship of 7 Trustee’s, whose sole aim is to uplift and improve sailing opportunities for young people of all nationalities.

The Trustees include Director’s & CEO’s of Companies, united in their commitment to adding value to the youth sailing fraternity. Using their initiative and own finances, the HBYSDT purchased the racing yacht Gryphon in 2016, with its first goal being to race the Cape to Rio 2017, which they did very successfully, despite losing their rudder during the South Atlantic crossing. Our purpose, via The HBYSDT, is to announce & highlight the sailing prowess of Hout Bay Youth Sailing. This brings to the project all the elements of empowerment, achievement, determination, hope, pride and success. The team have evolved from development sailing backgrounds, moving up the ladder and proving their worth as competent, competitive sailors. They are a team of talented and skilled individuals in their own right. We aim to make sailing more accessible to previously disadvantaged communities and use sailing and the love for sport as a tool to transcend social barriers.

The 2020 LTC Phoenix Admirals regatta will be sailed in the picturesque waters of Hout Bay from 20 - 22 March 2020.
Not only is the Admirals Regatta the most versatile regatta that Cape Town has to offer - it is also the only offshore dinghy regatta in the Cape Town dinghy sailing calendar! And entry fees don't come cheaper than this regatta!

So here's a great opportunity to sail your dinghy offshore in the beautiful waters of Hout Bay - also great practice for the Provincial over Easter!

See http://www.admiralsregatta.co.za/ for entry form, regatta documents and more details.

The 2019 LTC Phoenix Admiral's Regatta was held from 12-14 April at Hout Bay Yacht Club and hosted four sailing classes - dingies, inshore keelboats,ORC offshore keelboats and medium distance sailing class offshore.
Here's a selection of images from Alec Smith of Imagemundi Photography.
