Youth With Diabetes Youth With Diabetes (YWD) is a non profit organisation created to empower kids, teens and young adults living with diabetes in South Africa.

YWD’s slogan “Life can be sweet” embodies our enthusiastic and positive attitude toward this condition. Our logo was specifically designed to represent a lollipop, to dispel the common misconceptions about diabetes and to emphasise our slogan. Our most impressive ongoing project is our weekend camps. We have held camps all across South Africa and also neighbouring African countries including Botsw

ana and Namibia. The main aim of these camps is to show the children that other young people also have diabetes, and therefore eliminate their feelings of isolation and difference. We also educate the campers on better diabetes management and have fun activities. For these camps, we train teenagers as Youth Leaders. YWD has extensively trained these dynamic leaders in all aspects of diabetes management, as well as counseling and leadership. These teens then facilitate the camps with the help of diabetes doctors and nurses in their respective regions. They are also fully empowered to initiate their own community projects under the guidance of YWD.

Hey Diabetes Warriors! 🌈 Today, We're thrilled to share an incredible story of determination, inspiration, and passion that resonates with our own battles. Gareth, the Co-founder of Youth With Diabetes and a Type 1 diabetic himself, has embarked on a remarkable journey alongside Delfran.

We share this story as a reminder that diabetes doesn't stop your ability and dreams and the daily discipline in diabetes may equip you to face what life gives you with opportunity in any situation. Gareth and Delfran Introduced Naleo Spectrum, a sensory friendly powder supplement designed with love and dedication. Inspired by Gareth's own experience equipped with diabetes, he recognized the vital role nutrition plays in our daily lives. After the diagnosis of twins Lennon and Leo with autism, he saw the opportunity to create something extraordinary.
