💔 We don’t even have the words for what we saw today…

Our team came across a donkey on the Wild Coast… standing quietly, as if it had already accepted its pain. One of its ears was completely cut off.

We don’t know how it happened.
We don’t know who did this.
And somehow… that makes it even harder to understand.

There was no cry for help. No anger. Just silence… and suffering.

This is the reality too many of these animals face — alone, unheard, and forgotten.

Moments like this stay with us. They break something inside you. But they also remind us why we cannot stop.

We will not look away.
We will not ignore their pain.
We will keep fighting for them — no matter how hard it gets.

Please… help us be their voice.

We came across this young donkey with visible skin damage — something no animal should have to endure.
Skin wounds like this are often caused by poor living conditions, parasites, harsh weather, or overwork without proper care. Left untreated, it can become extremely painful and lead to serious infections.
But this is exactly why BAIE Donkey Welfare SA exists.
We are stepping in to: ✔️ Assess and treat the wound
✔️ Provide proper care and relief
✔️ Monitor recovery and prevent further suffering
This little one deserves a chance at a healthy, pain-free life — and we won’t turn away.
💛 Every rescue reminds us why we do this.
💛 Every life matters.
If you’d like to support cases like this — whether through donations, sharing this post, or simply spreading awareness — you are helping us reach many more donkeys in need.
Together, we can make sure stories like this have a happy ending.

Why “BAIE Donkey Welfare SA”? 🐴❤️

People often ask us what “BAIE” means — and the answer is simple, but powerful.

“Baie” is an Afrikaans word meaning “many” or “a lot.”
And that’s exactly what we stand for.

We are here for the many donkeys who are suffering, neglected, overworked, and forgotten across South Africa — especially in rural and underserved communities. These animals carry heavy burdens every single day, often without proper care, rest, or compassion.

Our name reflects both the scale of the problem and the size of our commitment.

👉 Many donkeys in need.
👉 Many lives to change.
👉 Many voices speaking up for those who cannot.

“BAIE Donkey Welfare SA” isn’t just a name — it’s a promise.

A promise to fight cruelty.
A promise to bring awareness.
A promise to protect, heal, and uplift every donkey we can reach.

Because every donkey matters. And together, we can make a difference.

🚨 URGENT: Donkeys Are Suffering in Rural Transkei 🚨

Too many donkeys in the rural Transkei are suffering every single day. These hardworking animals carry water, firewood, crops, and heavy loads for families who depend on them to survive. Yet many of them are starving, injured, overworked, and left without even the most basic care.

This is not just an animal issue — it is a matter of compassion and humanity.

BAIE Donkey Welfare NPO has been established because we cannot stand by and ignore this cruelty any longer. Our mission is clear: to take real action to protect and help these donkeys who are silently suffering.

We are working to:
• Provide emergency feeding for starving donkeys
• Assist with basic veterinary care for injured animals
• Educate communities about proper donkey care
• Protect working donkeys from neglect and abuse

Donkeys are loyal, gentle animals that serve rural communities with incredible strength and patience. They deserve dignity, kindness, and care — not suffering.
