Seven Passes Initiative The Seven Passes Initiative is a community based organisation committed to building a safe community

Our after school care centre supports the education of children and young people through classes which improve numeracy, literacy, self confidence and other educational outcomes. We also offer learners a safe space for activities like sport, music, arts and gardening and sustainability
When we become aware of high risk children or when families are identified as needing support or intervention, we

offer therapeutic programmes. During 2016 we will also be working in conjunction with the University of Cape Town and the Institute for Security Studies in providing four programmes to promote positive parenting. The focus will be on the four stages of a child’s life, starting with pregnancy through to the teenage years. The programmes will therefore play a crucial role in helping parents and children to form warm, loving bond as well as teaching constructive communication.

Our Youth Development team, Afterschool program, and local librarian Rachel came together for their initiative, bringing books, imagination, and learning fun to the children yesterday and today. We’re so excited to be building a strong culture of learning and inspiring a love for reading in our community ✨

✨ Exciting news! ✨

Seven Passes Initiative is proud to be part of the 2026 Collaborative Learning Initiative, joining a powerful cohort of community-based leaders from across East and Southern Africa 🌍

Together with 34 organizations from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, this cohort is creating meaningful change for children and youth—through education, gender equity, sustainable livelihoods, and youth empowerment.

Over the next ten months, we’ll be learning, growing, and strengthening our leadership and strategy alongside fellow change-makers.

Miss De Lilly, a passionate Grade 2 teacher at our local school, Touwsranten Primary — where many of our beneficiaries attend — is joining the Lights On After-School Challenge! 🌟

When the school bell rings, our lights don’t go off — they shine even brighter! 🌟
This week we’re celebrating the incredible aftercare facilitators who keep the doors open, the homework flowing, and the laughter rolling long after class is done. 💪🏾📚💛

On Thursday, 23 October, we’re flipping the switch even higher with our “Lights On” Challenge!
If you’ve got a light to shine — a skill, a story, a song, a smile — come spend an hour or two with our learners and see how your light can brighten theirs. 💫
