Eco Children

Eco Children We believe that all children should be given the best possible start in life and that a decent education is a fundamental human right.

We work in environmental education & whole school development in areas neighbouring the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve in the Limpopo & Mpumalanga provinces, South Africa. We believe that by reducing the burdens of poverty, creating an environment conducive to learning and stimulating a child’s curiosity through awareness of the natural world, all children will have the capacity to flourish and b

ecome catalysts of positive change in their families and their communities, resulting in both environmental and economic benefits. To support Eco Children's work, donate at www.ecochildren.co.za

Every Child Deserves the Opportunity to Flourish

Our mission is simple:
To empower children in rural communities through quality education, environmental awareness, and opportunities that help them reach their full potential.

When children are given the right support, they become catalysts for positive change within their families, schools, and communities.

That's why every programme, every lesson, and every opportunity matters.

WILD HEARTS LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT MAKWETSE PRIMARY SCHOOL

What an incredible day with our Grade R learners from Makwetse Primary School, who recently took part in a special WILD HEARTS lesson.

The focus of the day was one of the most iconic animals in the Big 5 - the Buffalo 🐃

Through interactive games, storytelling, and hands-on learning, the children explored the role of the Buffalo in the wild and enjoyed a fun recap of all Big 5 animals.

The creativity didn’t stop there, learners expressed what they had learned through beautiful buffalo artwork, using bold and imaginative colours to bring their animals to life. 🎨💚

It was a joyful, energetic, and memorable learning experience that connected education, creativity, and conservation in the most meaningful way.

With thanks to the Made Better Together Foundation for the WILD HEARTS programme.

🌿 WILD HEARTS lessons are helping children discover the magic of wildlife and the importance of conservation from an early age.

Sowing Seeds of Change

At Eco Children, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom.

Through environmental education, eco-villages, school gardens, literacy programmes, and teacher development, we are helping children discover their potential while learning how to care for the world around them.

Every lesson learned today helps shape the leaders, conservationists, teachers, and changemakers of tomorrow.

Together, we're creating brighter futures for children and communities.

What an inspiring weekend of mathematics learning and collaboration at our Teachers Conference in April! 📚✨
Twenty teachers from Grades R–7 participated in 12 hours of hands-on workshops and engaging discussions, with all phases represented for the first time — creating rich cross-grade learning opportunities.
We were honoured to welcome Bohlabela district officials Ma’am Kullar and Ma’am Zodwa, who valued the opportunity to engage across phases and share insights.
A highlight of the weekend was a practical group task where teachers explored cost-effective building solutions using real pricing data — sparking strong mathematical thinking and discussion.
A special thank you to Swadini Forever Resorts for the excellent facilities and memorable boat ride, Kapama Private Game Reserve for sponsoring and Dr Hannah Barnes as facilitator. From Eco Children a BIG thankyou for arranging and supporting this impactful weekend. 💚
