Our Vision:
The primary objective of the Timbavati Foundation is to reach out and provide funding for educational, training and sustainability programs for underprivileged communities around the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Since the year 2010, the Timbavati Foundation has been assisting the communities of Bushbuckridge where the greatest needs have been identified. We are in partnership curr

ently with 32 senior and 32 junior schools but have retained our focus on 8 focused schools which lay within close proximity to the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The Timbavati Foundation provides support in giving quality education, connected community conservation & environmental awareness programs, reaching out with social upliftment practices and supporting health care organisations & activities. An exceptionally beautiful environmental school only 8km from the nearest community, it invites learners to explore the wonders of their natural environment and engage in exciting learning activities over two to three days. Learners too are exposed to the magnificent Graeme Naylor Museum, located at the Timbavati Headquarters and from time to time offered an exciting game drive experience with one of the Timbavati lodges. A powerful new partnership has taken root!

The Timbavati Foundation is proud to join forces with Global Conservation Corps to bring their inspiring Future Rangers Program to two of our focus high schools this year.

Together, we are expanding access to quality environmental education, empowering more young people with the knowledge, skills, and passion needed to become the conservation leaders of tomorrow.

Partnerships like these are testament to what is possible when organisations unite behind a shared vision. By combining expertise, resources, and purpose, we can reach further, achieve more, and create lasting impact where it matters most. Most importantly we are not duplicating!

Collaboration isn't just a buzzword, it's how meaningful change happens... πŸ’š

The past two weeks have been filled with energy, excitement, and discovery as the Timbavati Foundation team welcomed school groups to the beautiful Graham Naylor Museum in the Timbavati Nature Reserve.

More than 250 learners and their teachers have stepped into this remarkable learning space, where stories of nature, conservation, and heritage come to life.

There is something truly special about witnessing curious young minds explore, question, and connect with the world around them. These moments remind us why environmental education matters most.

We are deeply grateful to have access to such an extraordinary facility on our doorstep.

Thank you, Timbavati, for helping inspire the next generation of conservation champions. 🌿

Busy Bees Celebrate World Bee Day 🌼🐝

Bees may be small, but their impact on our ecosystems is immeasurable. As pollinators, they play a vital role in supporting biodiversity, healthy habitats, and food systems across the world.
No Bees = No Food!

Days like World Bee Day remind us of the importance of continuing to nurture environmental awareness from a young age, something the Made Better Together Foundation WildHearts Environmental Education Program does so meaningfully through its creative, nature-connected learning experiences.

By encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a love for the natural world, the program continues to help shape young environmental stewards who understand that every species, no matter how small, has an important role to play. πŸ’›

Trails Guide in the making ✨️

Our field guide student, Rachel, has passed her Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) first time around! What a huge achievement for this young lady πŸ‘

For those who have attempted this will know that it is no easy deal. A big thank you to EcoTraining who has put a great amount of effort in developing her and all our students.

We are so proud πŸ™Œ

First Sihlekisi Primary EcoChamp Excursion!

"There’s something truly special about watching young people experience the bush through curious eyes and open hearts 🌿

Before we had even arrived at Koru Camp, nature had already begun welcoming us with sightings of a honey badger, elephants, and buffalo along the way 🐘

From exciting game drives and Bird Bingo to interactive conservation games, every moment became an opportunity for learning, laughter, and connection to nature. One of the most unforgettable highlights was spotting two lionesses and a magnificent lion during our afternoon drive, a moment filled with complete awe from our new Sihlekisi EcoChamps.

As the day came to an end, the learners sat beneath a sky full of stars, learning about the Southern Cross and the stories written across the night sky." - Terryan Sithole, TF EE leader.
These excursions are about so much more than wildlife sightings. They spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire a deeper love and respect for the natural world in these young minds πŸ’š

A heartfelt thank you to the Koru team for making this experience so meaningful and memorable and to for making this possible due to your support!

Term 2 with our Nature's Navigators 🌿

These little Grade Rs are absorbing all the fun learning like sponges, with their smiles and laughter proving a well-executed Made Better Together Foundation WildHearts lesson.

The Leopard lesson was presented at Mugidi Primary School this week πŸ†
Allowing their creativity to flow, masterpieces were created 🌟

Every week, these little Nature's Navigators wait for our EE team to arrive to bring the world of wildlife to their classroom!
