The Greater Kruger Eco-Tourism Enterprise Development Symposium brought local entrepreneurs, tourism partners and key stakeholders together to celebrate progress and strengthen inclusive participation in the tourism economy.

From the TSDP enterprise showcases and meaningful conversations with stakeholders to grant awards thanks to TOMSA and of course the launch of the LodgeLink Enterprise App co-developed by Indalo Inclusive South Africa, the day marked an exciting next chapter for the Timbavati Supplier Development Programme (TSDP) and the Timbavati Nature Reserve.

HAPPY WORLD ELEPHANT DAY | 12 AUGUST 🐘

Few animals shape the African savannah quite like the African Elephant. Often called ecosystem engineers, elephants are a keystone species, meaning they have an effect and influence on their natural habitat.

African elephants physically influence the landscapes they live in. By pushing over trees, breaking branches, and opening dense vegetation, they help maintain the balance of a savannah ecosystem, which in turn creates habitats and feeding opportunities for many other species.

Did you know?
🌿African savannah elephants are the largest land animals on Earth.
💧 They can travel significant distances in search of food and water.
👣 Their pathways can help open access through vegetation, while digging for water can sometimes benefit other wildlife.
👩‍👧 Elephant herds are strongly social and are generally led by an experienced matriarch, whose knowledge can be vital to the herd's survival.

But despite their importance, elephants continue to face serious threats across parts of Africa.

One of the most recognised is poaching for ivory. Elephants are killed for their tusks to supply the illegal ivory trade. Habitat loss, fragmentation and increasing human-elephant conflict place further pressure on populations.

Protecting elephants is therefore about far more than protecting one iconic species. It is about protecting the landscapes, ecological processes and countless other species connected to them.

This , we celebrate these remarkable giants and the important role they play in keeping Africa's wild landscapes functioning. 🌍🐘🌿

Another year, another huge success! 🌿

Well done to the Timbavati Traverse for pulling off yet another very successful fundraising event.

Not only does the funds raised help support the work the Timbavati Nature Reserve does to protect its wildlife but it also supports the work we do as Foundation. Continuing and deepening our impact day in and day out 🙌

This year the Traverse gave opportunity to 3 community runners! Charles and Tebogo completed the 45km Ultra Marathon and Believe Ngomane the 21km Half Marathon.

A little garden time before Term 3 began! 🌱

Just before the busy school term kicked off, our team spent a few days building a beautiful shadenet food garden at Nhlonhlori Day Care Centre.

It was also a great opportunity for Karen to pass on his knowledge and practical skills to our newest team members, ensuring these valuable skills continue to grow alongside our programmes.

Food gardens are about so much more than growing vegetables. In rural communities, where the nearest town is often far away, they help improve food security while providing fresh, nutritious produce that supports the healthy growth and development of young learners.

Growing food. Growing skills. Growing futures. 💚
