Meet Mfanelo

Whilst driving through Swayimane, I saw a young boy sitting alone in a sandpit. His name is Mfanelo.

We hadn’t met him through our community workers, and no one was aware of his situation.

A few weeks later, while checking in on patients in the area, I decided to stop at the same place and see if we could find his family.

We met Mfanelo’s mother, his permanent caregiver, who shared his story with us.

Mfanelo wasn’t born with the challenges he faces today. At just two years old, he began experiencing seizures, and over time, his condition dramatically changed his life.

Today, Mfanelo continues to suffer from severe seizures. His mother described some episodes as lasting up to two days — two days of unimaginable distress and exhaustion for both Mfanelo and his family.

And sadly, Mfanelo’s story is not unique.

We are coming across more and more people living with conditions that have never been properly diagnosed or supported. Behind every one of these stories is a family doing everything they can with the resources they have.

This is why Rejuvenate SA exists.

To find the people who have fallen through the cracks.
To listen to their families.
To connect them with the right support.
And ultimately, to help keep people mobile for life.

There are so many Mfanelos still waiting to be found.

Follow and join us as we continue searching, supporting and changing lives — one person at a time. ❤️

5 Wheelchairs. 1 Day. 🙌

What a day in Swayimane! 💙

We loaded 5 specialised wheelchairs into our GWM Edenvale GWM Tank 300 and hit the road to deliver some much-needed mobility and independence.

This is what Rejuvenate SA is all about — keeping people mobile for life, one person, one wheelchair and one community at a time. 🙏

A massive thank you to everyone who makes days like this possible. 💙

Patrick is all smiles in his brand-new wheelchair! 🙌♿️

This is just the beginning of an incredible journey.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be starting the process of building Patrick his new legs. He’ll be our very first double above-knee prosthetic patient—a challenge we’re ready to take on with determination and hope. 💙

It won’t be an easy road, but we’re confident that in the years ahead Patrick will be standing tall, walking with confidence, and back at work doing what he loves.

Watch this space… this is a journey you won’t want to miss. 🙏

The process of casting a new prosthetic socket. 🦿

Did you know that most amputees will need multiple new prosthetic sockets throughout their lifetime?

As your residual limb changes in shape and volume over time, your socket needs to be remade to ensure it fits correctly. A well-fitting socket is essential—it improves comfort, reduces pressure points, helps prevent skin breakdown, and allows for better mobility and confidence.

The first step is creating a plaster cast of the residual limb. This captures its exact shape so a custom socket can be manufactured specifically for the individual.

Even after years of wearing a prosthesis, getting cast for a new socket is always a mix of excitement and nerves. You hope for that perfect fit, knowing it can make a huge difference to your everyday life.

Every cast is another step towards greater comfort, independence, and the freedom to keep moving.
