We also promote community and animal health through education and rabies vaccination campaigns.

And while it may look slow to the watcher, yesterday was a huge step for Danger. It took him nearly 20 minutes to believe he was worthy of trying — with patience and encouragement handed out in dollops by his handler. These moments remind us that courage grows quietly, and bonds are built gently. 💛

Just a month ago, this energetic dog and his mate were chained up all day. Thanks to the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, Durban and Pietermaritzburg visit, they’re now free — enjoying a stable diet and looking healthier than ever. Deep gratitude to Bronwyn and team for making freedom possible. ✨

Endangered Species Day at Beachwood Mangroves was a celebration of learning and teamwork. Welcomed by WESSA’s Tebello, our handlers explored the mangrove ecosystem — discovering how every part works together. Though litter lined the shore, the spirit of gratitude, laughter, (and of course marshmallows) shone brighter. 🌿

A huge thanks to the people who made this outing possible:
Animal Anti-Cruelty League, Durban and Pietermaritzburg for transport, Nation Changers for transport and marshmallows, WESSA Treasure Beach for guiding the entire morning with education, supervision, and planning, and Ezemvelo, the proud custodian of the reserve.

On 16 May 2026, our Inja Yethu children step into the winding paths of the Beachwood Mangroves to celebrate Endangered Species Day.
Just as Inja Yethu teaches children to build trust with dogs, this special outing will teach them to build trust with the earth. From a forest walk and beach clean-up, to painting endangered animals with the guidance of WESSA volunteers, every moment is a chance to connect with nature’s big family.
Thanks to the support of WESSA, Nation Changers, and the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL), our children discover that caring for dogs and caring for the planet are part of the same lesson: kindness protects all living things. 💛🌿

What a privilege to welcome Nozipho, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, Durban and Pietermaritzburg (AACL) dedicated Animal Health Technician, to Siyajabula Trust today. She inspired our handlers and curious young learners by sharing her journey to qualification and highlighting the everyday needs that keep every dog healthy and happy.

This visit also deepened the bonds she began building back in February, when we toured the AACL facilities in Hammarsdale. 🐾
The effort and sacrifice from AACL made today possible — and we are truly grateful. 💛
