It’s only 3 September, and we urgently need to raise R10,000 this month to keep our rescue going.

The good news? ❤️ R5,000 has already been raised.

But we still need another R5,000, and we’re asking you to please help us get there. 🙏

Right now, we need to cover some very important expenses:

🚗 R3,600 payment for our rescue vehicle
🐾 Animal food that needs to be purchased
🏥 A payment towards our outstanding vet bill

These aren’t optional expenses. Our rescue vehicle needs to keep running, our animals need to eat, and our vet bills need to be paid.

🚨🐾 WE NEED YOUR HELP — OUR VET BILL MUST BE PAID 🐾🚨

We have pushed our vet bill as far as we possibly can, and now the time has come where we need to settle our account in full by the end of this month. 💔

Our outstanding vet bill is R13,077.00.

Our vet has been incredibly patient and understanding with us, and we are so grateful for the support they have continued to give our animals when they need it most. ❤️

But we have reached the point where we simply cannot carry the outstanding balance any longer.

💔 If we cannot pay our vet bill, we cannot continue sterilising animals.

And without sterilising, there can be no more intakes.

No more intakes means we cannot take in the animals who desperately need us.

And ultimately… it means we cannot save more lives. 🐾💔

We don’t want to have to turn an animal away because we don’t have the ability to get them the veterinary care they need.

So today, we are asking our incredible supporters, friends, family and fellow animal lovers to please help us raise R13,077.00 and clear this bill.

🐾❤️ END-OF-MONTH APPEAL ❤️🐾

As we come to the end of another month, we’re reaching out with a humble request for your help.

Every single day, we continue to rescue, feed, medicate and care for animals who have nowhere else to turn. Behind every rescue are costs for food, veterinary care, medication, transport, rehabilitation and so much more. These costs add up quickly.

💔 Last month, we sadly didn’t manage to cover all of our costs. We had to carry some expenses over, but we refuse to let that stop us from helping the animals who need us.

We remain hopeful that this month we can catch up and cover everything that is still outstanding. 🙏

🌙 A CALL FOR HELP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT… 🦊💔

Late last night, while we were lying in bed, we heard the most heartbreaking sound — the sound of an animal in distress.

We jumped up, ran outside and followed the cries onto our neighbour’s property.

What we found broke our hearts. 💔

A beautiful side-striped jackal had been caught in a snare. 😔

We immediately tried to free him, but sadly, we simply didn’t have the correct tools to safely cut through the snare.

So we called Brendan from Owl Rescue Centre for help.

Thankfully, we managed to get him safely out of the snare — and the absolute best news is that there was no damage caused by the snare. 🥹❤️

He was free. He was safe. And he could run again. 🦊✨

Situations like this remind us just how important it is to have the right rescue equipment available. We never know what call is going to come next, and we want to be prepared to help every animal who needs us.

🐾 TWO TINY LIVES SAVED LAST NIGHT 🐾

Last night at 8pm, we received a call about a tiny kitten trapped in a pile of roof tiles, with dogs trying to get to it.

Sadly, their mommy had already been killed by these same dogs just a few days earlier. 💔

We simply couldn’t leave this little baby to face the same fate.

When we arrived, we could see the kitten between the tiles. It was terrified, confused and desperately trying to hide.

I reached into the tiles and managed to grab the little one…

And then I heard it.

Another hiss.

There was a SECOND kitten hiding behind the first! 😭

We managed to get the second baby out too — although not without some blood being drawn in the process!

These two kittens are incredibly wild, scared and confused. They have already lost their mommy and been left to fend for themselves far too young.

But now, they are safe with us at Paws and Purrs Rescue. ❤️

And now we need your help.

They need food, deworming, and tick and flea treatment to get them healthy and give them the fresh start they deserve.

We Need A Miracle 💔🐾

It’s the 18th of the month, and we still don’t have enough to get through this month.

At this point, we genuinely need a miracle.

Our bakkie has broken down, which means every single day has become a struggle just to get enough water to all the animals. We are now spending around 5 hours throughout the day collecting water in the car and distributing it to the animals. It is exhausting, but the animals still need water.

We only managed to buy two weeks of food for our animals. We are now at the end of that second week, and the buckets are getting frighteningly low.

The rescue vehicle’s petrol light has been on for two days. We are having to divert rescue calls to other rescues because we simply cannot afford the fuel to get there.

And perhaps the hardest part…

We are having to say no to animals who desperately need help because we literally don’t have the medications and supplies needed to treat them.

Our vet account is far overdue, and we desperately need to sterilise 25 animals already in our care. Until payments are made towards our vet account, we cannot book these vital procedures.

We know everyone is struggling. We know money is tight. And we understand that.

But the calls for help don’t slow down.

They don’t stop.

And having to say, “I’m so sorry, we can’t help,” is absolutely heartbreaking. 💔

We cannot keep bringing more animals through our gates when we are struggling to meet the full needs of the animals already depending on us. That is a reality we cannot ignore, no matter how badly we want to save every single one.

But we don’t want to give up.

We just need help getting through this incredibly difficult month.
