Today, 25 June 2025, we honoured and celebrated the boys of the province at the Boys Assembly 2025, held at the Adelaide Thambo Hall in Mhluzi, Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, emphasising the importance of nurturing the boy child to become responsible and respectful leaders in society. This event marks a critical moment in our efforts to build a generation of young men who are respectful, responsible, and resilient.
As we conclude Youth Month, we reaffirm the unwavering commitment of the Department of Social Development to nurturing boys who will grow into men that contribute meaningfully to safe, healthy, and inclusive communities.
Since the launch of the Boys Championing Change Programme in 2022, we have engaged with more than 5,000 boys across the province. These are young lives we have reached with mentorship, guidance, and renewed hope.
Moving forward, we aim to incorporate job-shadowing, life skills training, and deeper community partnerships into our approach. Our goal is to raise boys who are not only educated but also emotionally and socially equipped to be agents of positive change.
The Department stands ready to collaborate with civil society, industry, and all levels of government to ensure this initiative becomes an ongoing investment in the future of our province. The Boys Assembly is not just an event; it is a call to collective, sustained action.
